“RV Travel Park review”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

We were very disappointed by this RV park. It appears neglected - like a field with a few parking spaces that have utilities. There were some young men who appeared to be locals loitering near our RV one evening that made us feel rather insecure. The WiFi does not work in the park area. You have to sit on the porch of the B&B to use the WiFi. We have a very small RV so we used the park's bath house. Unlike all other bath houses we have seen in the past 5 yrs of RVing across the US, the showers in this bath house do not have vestibules in front of the shower where you can privately disrobe, place your towel and clothes on hooks and/or a bench. The showers lack soap dishes. There was only one outlet to plug in a single hair dryer at the 2 sinks. The privacy laminate was peeling off the windows of both the men's and women's restrooms.

On the positive side, the restrooms were clean. And the location of this park is on the outskirts of town so it is quiet and you can see the surrounding hills.

You don't have a lot of choices of RV parks in this area so hopefully, the owners will make some improvements on their property.

So sorry that you were disappointed. The RV park was added to this historic property in the 1960s and RVing has seen many changes since that time. Free WIFI is available in the public areas of the hotel which include numerous porches and the recreation room. We work hard to keep things clean and in good repair. If you visit again, hopefully you will see some of the many ongoing improvements to the property. The front desk is available to address any concerns that our guests may bring to our attention. Thank you for your feedback.

We have stayed at the Hospitality House on numerous occasions over the last 5 years. We typically stay on the top floor for the reasons previously noted. Rooms are very clean, as well as the lobby, front porch and sun rooms. Beds while very soft are comfortable. Bathrooms can be a tiny bit small, but I usually find some place for everything. Bathrooms do have a blow dryer. Out of habit I always have mine. Love the different rooms and hearing about the history of each. Coffee and pastry's are available in the morning. Staff is very accommodating. We brought breakfast wraps on our trip. Not only did they microwave them for us, they wrestled up plates, napkins and forks. The creaky floors are part of the charm. If you sleep lightly, request a room away from the stairs on the top floor, preferably in the 'newer' part. It is a old old old building and noise can and does fill the cracks. My favorite part of the Hospitality House is sitting out on the front porch with a glass of wine (bought elsewhere) watching the NUMEROUS hummingbirds feed, fight and play. Mornings on the porch with a cup of coffee are an absolute! Early mornings and evenings, watch up the hill for wild life running across the meadow. Inconsiderate guests can be found at just about every hotel, motel, Inn, resort and B&B out there. How you handle it makes the difference between making a new friend or not. We have made several over the past years. The Hospitality House is under new ownership. We met them as they work the front desk often. We found the new owners very personable and we look forward to many visits with them. My only suggestion would be, with the front porch and sun room as a gathering place, more furniture, comfortable and welcoming would be a great hit......but then I might lose my spot on the porch. The hot tub was not up and running, but I didn't miss it as the nights were in the 40's and I could be found in a rocker on the porch. They have plenty of yard games, balls and nets for the kids to play with. Staying outside of the hustle and bustle of the casino's is what we like. The shuttle service allows us to wander into downtown and back without the hassle of driving, parking, walking. Shuttle service is always a phone call away.

Room Tip: For light sleepers, in the new part. Upstairs gets you out of most the in incoming and outgoing nois...

Thank you for continuing to make us a part of your visit to Cripple Creek! Taking some time out to enjoy the hummingbirds on the front porch is popular summer pastime here at the hotel. We completely agree that some additional seating is in order and hope to be able accomodate soon. Your review is much appreciated and we hope to see you again this year.

This is a place we have stayed many times. The history and restoration of the building is great. The beds are very comfortable. We've stayed in almost every room through the years. #15 is our favorite. This is the room we had this year. The hotel has had some recent maintenance that even improves the atmosphere. Windows all shiny clean and view from sun porch is so relaxing and peaceful. My granddaughters we fascinated by the hummingbirds.

We stayed two nights and thought we had the best deal in town. If stairs are not a problem, get a room on the second floor. All the casinos run shuttles out to pick you up so you do not have to worry about parking downtown. Never had to wait more than ten minutes for a shuttle. Brekfast was rolls, muffins, several different fruits, coffee, and juice.

Room Tip: If stairs are not a problem, I would stay upstairs.

This place is very neat and rustic, However we were rudely awakened at 2 AM when
some guests arrived late and were checking in, they were Loud and so was the Clerk on duty ! You would think that Adults would know better than to be Loud and carry on a 20 minute conversation while other guests are sleeping ! If you go out on the town and arrive back at the hotel for the evening after 8 PM there is very Limited Parking,
We were not Impressed with the staff at all. Rooms 11 and 15 are right near the,
entry way / check in desk .

Room Tip: Get a second story room as far in the back as you can get. !

The next morning...early.... outside our door in the hallway young kids (3-5 years old) were screaming and a bunch of adults were talking loudly nonstop for a long time.
Finally I went out there after everything went quiet and asked were did the party go???
The lady behind the desk thought it was funny....I think it was very inconsiderate and rude and will never stay there again....There is a big room near the laundry room where they could serve the coffee and muffins instead of the hallway by room 11.

Stayed at the hospitality house several yr ago. It was great! Character, quaint, reasonable, fun. But last time we tried they said they weren't renting rooms. We were sad. Ended up at a similar place, yet not same atmosphere, in town. Too bad. It sure had history.
Not sure if they're back in business or not. This was several years ago. If you get the chance. It's a great place, at least it was.
