“Get Your Map and Some Advice”
Reviewed 28 June 2013

This place was helpful. They will help you get your bearings, give you a free map, and they will explain where to go. I also like that they will give advice about nearby towns as well without just focusing on Cripple Creek. Everyone there was kind and polite, and there was plenty of paved parking outside if you need to rest your eyes after a long drive up the mountain from Colorado Springs.

Be aware that fog can move in very quickly in the late afternoon/early evening, and leaving his parking lot is scary as hell when you can't see cars coming from either direction. This place could REALLY use a four way stop or at least a stop light when fog conditions warrant its use. Freaked me out.

“Wonderful Museum”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

Stop here first! This is an amazing view of the area and will help you get your bearings, learn about the area and get some background that will make the rest of the town make sense on your trip. The floks who are here to help you are really fun and helpful. Watch the short film downstairs and you will have info on the rest of the town, ie names of hotels, etc. Well worth the time for this important place in American history.

“A must stop before exploring Cripple Creek”
Reviewed 18 May 2013

A great place to learn about the mining district of Cripple Creek. I would stop there first before doing anything else unless you just want to gamble. It's a self guided tour but it is very informative. I loved the model train layout of the area around the heyday of mining. Also a Great view of the
Sangre de Cristo Mountains. And they have a layout of the mountains below the window so you know which peaks you are seeing.

“Don't miss this gem in Cripple Creek!”
Reviewed 23 January 2013

I've lived in Colorado for almost 3 years, and have been coming out to the Pikes Peak area for over 55 years. Today was my first visit to the Heritage Center outside of Cripple Creek, and I was so impressed. There is no charge to visit this amazing Center, and it has something for everyone. I can't wait until my grand kids come out next summer so I can take them - the dinosaur & Colorado wildlife exhibit is fabulous. I learned so much today, and I can't wait to go back. Bonus: the two ladies working there today were super friendly and fun. Plus, the view alone is worth the stop. Don't miss the Heritage Center like I did for the last 5 years - enjoy!!!
