“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 5 August 2007

We just returned from our stay in Cripple Creek. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. It was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. It has a very relaxed atmosphere which makes you feel comfortable. It sits up on a hill at the top of the town. We had a nice view of Cripple Creek. This hotel was great for our family. We took our two children. Downtown Cripple Creek is mostly Casinos so it was better for us to stay at Gold King. We did use the coupons that the hotel gave us for breakfast at Bronco Billys Cafe which is downtown and it was very good food. Our bill for the four of us each morning was under ten dollars and we even had steak and eggs. We drove in to town but they also have a shuttle that will take you. It is very close. I would recommend this hotel. It is not a luxury hotel but it is nice and easy. We spent each day out site seeing so it was perfect for us. Be sure and do the Mollie Kathleen Mine tour and ride the Train. The train is just down from the hotel and Mollie Kathleen is just outside of town on Hwy 67. We also went horse back riding down Hwy 67 - probably only 5 miles out of town. They have a website it is goldeneagleoutfitters.com. We did the one hour ride and they were good with our kids. We didn't mind driving and it didn't take long to drive in towards Colorado Springs to do- Pike's Peak, Garden of the Gods, and The North Pole. Highway 67 is a nice drive and we got to see some great rainbows. Cripple Creek is very relaxing and we enjoyed coming back there each night. They do still have donkeys that roam the town- be sure to check out the pictures I uploaded.

I checked out all motels first, but saw right away this one had the best value.
Larger, more comfortable rooms.
Exercise room was dirty when I arrived, but they had it cleaned right away.
Enjoyed the pool and hottub.
What a view.
And forget driving around, just hop on the shuttle bus.

You know for the location this is not a bad hotel. The rest of the hotels in town are in casinos. So if you want to get away from the casinos this is the place. A shuttle will run you back and forth from the casino area. They have bigger and cleaner rooms than the casino hotels and are a little better priced and willing to work with you. They give you coupons for free meals sometimes from the casinos. They have a little gym, pool and suntanning area. Some of the locals come here to work out. The staff is really very nice and I liked them.

Reciently spent a long week end in Cripple Creek Colorado. Probably the most enjoyable time we have spent in years. Hotel, food and people were great. We stayed at the Gold King Mountain Inn. We are planning a return trip this next year and also a longer visit.

Double Eagle was the place to gamble....But Gold King Mountain Inn was the place to stay! Comfortable room with pillow top beds, nice indoor hot-tub and pool. Staff was friendly and helpful. Free shuttle to the gambling strip. So much to see and do I couldn't get it done in one trip! Only word of caution is... Don't take Phantom Canyon Road at 3 am to get there! Althooooo... it was scary and fun for a one time try! 1 lane dirt washboard, donkey trail for 25 miles should describe it well. SNAKING up the mountain 5 to 10 mph is a good safe speed! Have fun! Don't miss the mine tour and the railroad trip!

...and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Spent several days in Cripple Creek at Gold King Mountain Inn. Very enjoyable and interesting. Met so many nice, friendly people.
Especially a "Miss Edna". think her name was "Poole". did write her note after arriving home but never heard from her.
She was such a great joy!! Is she still with you?
Have a picture but am not at home at this time, but may enclose it another time - of her sleeping outside of casino waiting for "donkey run" to begin.

Thanks to the staff at the Gold King Mtn. Inn, our stay was grand. The staff is the friendliest and most knowledgeable folks we have encountered on any trip. They knew the area, the best places to eat and things to do. Highly recommended!!!!
Nice pool - mountain views!!!
