We just returned from our stay in Cripple Creek. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. It was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. It has a very relaxed atmosphere which makes you feel comfortable. It sits up on a hill at the top of the town. We had a nice view of Cripple Creek. This hotel was great for our family. We took our two children. Downtown Cripple Creek is mostly Casinos so it was better for us to stay at Gold King. We did use the coupons that the hotel gave us for breakfast at Bronco Billys Cafe which is downtown and it was very good food. Our bill for the four of us each morning was under ten dollars and we even had steak and eggs. We drove in to town but they also have a shuttle that will take you. It is very close. I would recommend this hotel. It is not a luxury hotel but it is nice and easy. We spent each day out site seeing so it was perfect for us. Be sure and do the Mollie Kathleen Mine tour and ride the Train. The train is just down from the hotel and Mollie Kathleen is just outside of town on Hwy 67. We also went horse back riding down Hwy 67 - probably only 5 miles out of town. They have a website it is goldeneagleoutfitters.com. We did the one hour ride and they were good with our kids. We didn't mind driving and it didn't take long to drive in towards Colorado Springs to do- Pike's Peak, Garden of the Gods, and The North Pole. Highway 67 is a nice drive and we got to see some great rainbows. Cripple Creek is very relaxing and we enjoyed coming back there each night. They do still have donkeys that roam the town- be sure to check out the pictures I uploaded.
