“Good Easy Denver Hotel”
Reviewed 22 December 2009

I came back to Denver to visit my dear friend and stayed in a hotel at the last minute. The hotel had a great deal and it was a fair value for what it was. I was there mainly to sleep and shower. It was a great place to do that. The hotel staff was very welcoming and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I was given a very quiet room with a nice view of the city. I would recommend this hotel to the business traveler because it is quite functional for just that. It's very basic and clean with a great location to all the shopping.

Well...after many reviews, we decided to go ahead and book with this hotel since everyone said the location was really near everything. So when we have gotten there, sure enough the 16th street mall was a block over. Staff were really nice, told us different hot spots and different attractions. As for the hotel itself, i would say..eh..it was OKay not the greatest thing but it was do-able. I've read the review listed below by "teachermasters" and i know they were very unhappy about their stay. When the crowne plaza hotel answered back saying that they did change the elevator and parking security, they did indeed do that. BUT, as for the T.V scenerio, I will say that NOT all the room got upgrades to the plasma screens cause we got the Old school T.V. When we booked our hotel (which was a advance purchase non-refundable), it said that we "might" get a great mountain view by choosing the king suite, which we indeed did NOT. We got a view of the next buildings parking lot instead. I was a bit dissapointed since well, i figured the chances of us recieving the view should be high since we did an advance purchase but oh well. bathrooms: you can tell they are trying to change things around, but it doesn't look so great with the mildew all around the metal caddys. Another thing, the air conditioner is done through the old models where they are implanted on the floor through the windows. This air unit was very loud, perhaps this was why ya'll left a package with ear plugs cause i had to use it. Overall, i would say i'm neutral about this place.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to take care of you during your recent visit to Denver. We were glad you enjoyed the hotel location and staff. We apologize for the misleading comment regarding the televisions. What we should have told the readers is that the flat screen plasma televisions are being installed (a work in progress) in all guest rooms and will be a part of each and every guest room upon completion. We are disappointed that you didn't get a mountain view room as you hoped for. Should you stay with us again please let us know your request upon check-in, and if available we will be happy to provide you with a mountain view room. With the number of buildings in the downtown area we are very limited on the number of rooms that come with a view of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. We appreciate the feedback about your room issues and will address these issues with our room inspection team. Please consider staying with us again next time you visit Dever. We would love to have another opportunity to change your neutral experience into a great one. Wishing you a wonderful holiday.

Best Regards,
The Crowne Plaza Denver Team

Within a short walk of many attractions, including Denver Art Museum, Convention Center, Theaters, many restaurants and the 16th Street Mall. Room, two double beds, was very comfortable and reasonably priced for a downtown hotel in a large city. Staff was very pleasant and gave helpful suggestions when asked. Parking wasn't cheap, but that's life in the big city. Lots of public transportation.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. Only a block from shops and restaurants at Denver Pavillion. Clean and friendly. Lee, the concierge in the preferred club was wonderful and on top of everything.

This looks like it was a converted, old style Holiday Inn, Howard Johnson's or Ramada -- it isn't even close to what one would expect from a Crowne Plaza. If you're attending an event at the convention center, this is a good location. It's also close to 16th Street Mall, a very nice, outdoor shopping, dining, entertainment area that runs for several blocks. The bell staff is competent and friendly. Check-in is average. Nothing special. Interaction with an IRS agent have been more warm and friendly. Rooms are average. A couple of things caught my attention which prompted this review, because I think it is a serious issue to give a negative review without at least 2-3 separate experiences -- but this one was a deal breaker ... when I got my bill there were 2 local telephone calls on it each for 50 cents. I know -- not a lot of money. But the thing that got me going was the fact that the telephone charges are not applied by anybody -- these are automatic charges that are automatically generated when someone uses the phone in the room. Both of the calls were made during mid-day on two different days while I was attending an event at the convention center. Also, I never use hotel telephones -- I have a cell with unlimited calling so my fingers just don't even go near the hotel phone unless it is to occasionally order room service or call the front desk. The thing that made this a total service fall down was the fact that SOMEONE was in MY ROOM doing something that they shouldn't have been doing -- and when I brought it to the attention of the hotel, they simply removed the charge and said, "sorry." That would be fine -- but if someone else who had access to my room used the phone on two separate occasions, then what else were they doing in my room that they shouldn't have been doing? The hotel makes a big deal out of security by making you use your key card to get to your floor on the elevator. I would liken this to other facade building, false-sense-of-security (literally) tactics that really don't mean much. If this hotel took security seriously, they would have researched who else accessed the room and used the phone and then done something about it. To my knowledge, nothing was done. Also -- the last day I was there, no coffee was put in the room and the glasses and cups that were used were not replaced. Maybe someone was too busy talking on the phone? Besides the (lack of) security issues, it was an uneventful stay -- the rooms are small, the bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is adequate. You can get this type of room anywhere downtown. Much better choices include Residence Inn Downtown and Marriott Downtown. They take security very seriously and react and respond when there is a breach.

I liked this hotel. I had a nice clean room with a king bed and decent amenities. It's just steps from the 16th street mall so the location is great. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. One thing I won't do is eat there. Get all your meals elsewhere. They couldn't get breakfast right. Apart from that, I loved the place. Friendly staff, especially at the bar.

We got this room through the bidding process on Priceline. We got a good price, and it is centrally located in downtown Denver, but we wouldn't choose it again. The hotel charges $18/day for parking (not listed on their website), which virtually eliminated our name-your-price savings. The rooms are fairly small compared to other hotels, though they are nice. The pool was closed two of the three nights of our stay for private parties. Guests were offered the option to pay $10/person to swim at a nearby health club instead. We couldn't fully close the drapes to our room, which made me uncomfortable, too. The worst part, though, had to be the trash left in our hallway by housekeeping. We know because it was by our door, probably from our room (pizza box and other things). It was there when we returned to our room one night, and still there the next afternoon. Overall, not a great experience.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for staying at the Crowne Plaza Denver! We apologize that you were unhappy with your stay. Unfortunately, when our guests purchase rooms through a third party internet web site without knowing which hotel they are bidding for we are unable to explain in detail our "additional fees" as indicated on the Priceline webiste which only tells you that "additional hotel fees may apply." If you select our hotel specifically from Priceline you can see the details of the additional fees that apply to guests staying with us. All of the downtown hotels in Denver charge competitive rates for parking which is a great thing for guests to be prepared for before they stay. Thank you for the additional information that you provided about your stay. We will use that information to improve our guest experience. We would love another opportunity to take care of you and show you how much our guests mean to us next time you visit Denver.

Best Regards,
The Crowne Plaza Team
