After staying in places for similar prices abroad (not in Europe), this place was very decent for a hostel. Each room has it's own sink, there are security bars on the doors and there's a communal kitchen. The location is right on the light rail line and in walking distance to the pedestrian 16th street mall. We stayed here three nights before and after an Amtrak trip and saved money as a couple in a private room. Of course, the "hotel" part of the name is misleading. If you are comparing your stay to a hotel, you will not be happy with the cheapness of everything inside and the manager doesn't seem like he likes his job (the night guy is pretty chill though). Don't stay for a romantic getaway, but it's perfect for college students and others looking for a good deal. And yes, it does seem like some old guys make some of the rooms their homes.
