Stayed the end of June 2009 at the Hotel Monaco Denver. We were able to get an amazing deal through TravelZoo for $99 a night for a king size bed and the required valet service was included. The staff was extremely helpful while we were there, valet service was at times extremely busy. The hotel made a great base camp for us to re-visit Idaho Springs, Pike's Peak and Mount Evans. Besides the downtown location, we were sold after reading about having a golfish in the hotel room, yes a golfish that we named Mr. Pepper Ridge. We normally wouldn't stay at such an expensive hotel, but the deal and golfish got us hook line and sinker.

There were a few minor negatives while staying, but nothing horrible. One was during our first night on Saturday at 2AM when the bars let out it was noisy. Our room was located outside the parking lot so we heard people standing around talking for a little while which interrupted our sleep. Another was a lukewarm shower both nights/mornings we stayed. The wireless Internet was slow and they seemed to push their "upgrade" to make it faster, which we didn't pay for and instead tethered our iPhone.

Otherwise a great hotel if you can get a deal.

The staff was extremely friendly & helpful. And the location was in walking distance to the 16th Street Mall. I loved the fun decor & how they welcomed pets. And the goldfish in the room was super-cute!

My husband and I just returned from our trip to Denver and our stay at the Hotel Monaco Denver. We loved this hotel! We heard one dog bark when we were in a hallway, and otherwise the hotel was very quiet. The hotel staff is so efficient and a lot of fun. The hotel is in the heart of downtown in a great location and it is very safe to walk around even at night. The location is 1 block away from the wonderful 16th Street Pedestrian Mall. We will be recommending this hotel to all our friends who go to Denver. There is even a great restaurant attached to the hotel.
We also enjoyed our goldfish.

After reading reviews on TA, I decided to stay at the Hotel Monaco while visiting Denver.
It was the perfect choice. From the minute we checked in, until the time we checked out, every member of the hotel staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. In addition, the room rate we received online through the hotel was a bargain.
The concierge on the morning we were leaving took care of booking our boarding passes for our flight the next day. She was a peach.
I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Denver.

I deliberated over whether to stay at the Hotel Monaco or the Hotel Teatro but chose the Monaco because I was able to get a better deal there. I am sure that the Teatro would have been a great choice too but we really loved the Hotel Monaco. The lobby is beautiful and the rooms and hallways are funky and spotless. We had a king size room and it was not huge but it was perfect for us and it was also very quiet. We were on the side facing the parking lot which was not the greatest view but again, it was quiet. Everyone was courteous, friendly and always willing to help answer any questions. My wife and I also loved having the goldfish in the room. It's a neat idea for a very "pet friendly" hotel to offer that to its guests. The location is perfect as others have noted since you are two blocks from the 16th St. Mall and only 6 blocks to the ball park. After attending the ballgame, we went back to the Panzano restaurant at the hotel and they were closing down the kitchen but the manager in charge made sure that we could get some food. It was just another example of a hotel that really cares about their guests. I admittedly wasn't thrilled with the valet parking costs of $26/day but they were extremely prompt in retrieving the car when we needed it and again, the Monaco employees handled this function with courtesy and professionalism. Our only complaint was that one of the reasons that influenced our decision as to where to stay was the happy hour. Unfortunately, on our first day, there were so many persons there waiting for the "freebies" that there was no place to sit and all of the food was quickly gone. The wine was also not the greatest but as someone else mentioned, when it's free why complain. Believe me when I say that this was only a very minor irritant. It is really a fine hotel with a very caring staff and I would certainly recommend this hotel to others visiting Denver.
