We really appreciate the kind comments and that you took the time to share them with us. I will make sure that our entire team has the opportunity to read them as well.
Let me start by saying that I LOVE Embassy Suites. Most "bad" Embassy Suites are still better than your average hotel. That being said, I was really disappointed with our stay primarily for noise reasons.
The point of the suite for us is so we have 2 separate sleeping areas. Unfortunately, as many ES do, they open to an atrium area. Well, there was basically no soundproofing around the window or door or walls. My husband could barely sleep and kept getting woke up all night long, plus the morning crew started breakfast prep around 0500 and they were not quiet. It's wonderful to wake up to the smell of bacon, but there needs to be some way to quiet down the staff's preparations.
There was a baseball tournament and lacrosse tournament while we were there. Very packed hotel and lots of young kids. The parents often didn't supervise their kids so they were running up/down the hall past midnight. I will say this was mostly the baseball kids who left by Monday, but still... It was three nights of this. It's a shame that the night staff didn't recognize it and make it stop.
Let's talk the restaurant. Ate there three times and the servers were awful. No other way to describe them. Inattentive is putting it mildly.
This is slightly amusing. The gym's location is right by the bar and part of the seating area for the restaurant/breakfast. You have to walk through this eating area to get to/from the gym. It's kind of gross to have a bunch of sweaty people walking by you when you are eating. (I was one of the sweaty people and I felt badly for those eating!) Unavoidable though. Whoever's bright idea that location was should be fired. And the gym itself? HOT and no air circulation. I'd lower the thermostat to 62 but an hour later, it would still be 74-75 degrees with no air movement. The cardio equipment faced the wall. There were no mats to exercise or stretch on. Good cardio equipment though. Towels and water were provided.
The rooms were on the smaller side of Embassy Suites that I have previously stayed in.
Free wi-fi--excellent, but it often dropped out.
Location--it is totally by itself with NOTHING in walking distance. It's a very industrial area right off I-70 which is convenient for day trips and the airport. It's about 2 miles away from a shopping/restaurant area though.
I asked for a list of local activities. There were a lot of typos on it (they spelled mountains wrong, which is pretty funny considering the hotel's location.) There were directions but no distance. Very weird. You didn't know if something was 5 minutes or 2 hours away.
There were 2 washers and 2 dryers for the entire hotel to use. We had no problems with them and they were $1/$1.50 respectively.
Breakfast--I give them credit for keeping up with all of those boys each eating a pound of bacon. There were a few mornings where you had to wait in line for the meats/scrambled eggs/fruit. The Friday before we left, the line was enormous. I couldn't even get my son yogurt or fruit as the line was in front of the area and no one knew if it was considered one line or if you could cut in just for fruit. Very poorly planned. They should have had that portion separated off like other days. Then they had no peanut butter. The oatmeal ran out and I had to ask for more. The "bussers" would go to yank your plate as you were still eating. Several times one morning in particular I had to tell them "STOP. I'm still eating. Please leave us alone." It was awkward but WTH???
The pool--some days freezing; other days warm. Weird.
All in all for the price, it was OK. Just disappointing as I've always loved EB, so I was disappointed that it wasn't its usual perfection.
Thanks for writing such a comprehensive review covering your stay in our hotel. I will definitely use it as an outline for our upcoming team meeting. Our team takes the business of service with all seriousness, but that does not mean we meet success every single time. It is the honest critique from guest such as yourself that helps us see the areas where we fall short.
Please accept our apology for not exceeding your expectations, and thanks so much for letting us know.
We just returned from a week long vacation where we attended a sporting competition and therefore travelled with a very large group. The majority of the group stayed at this hotel and we cannot say enough great things about it. Not only were the rooms clean, but the staff was very responsive and attentive to our every need. The food at the hotel restaurant was amazing and every day from 5:30 to 7:30, they hosted a free bar for all of their patrons. In addition to this, the breakfast offered an a-la-carte made to order omelet bar and also offered a wide variety of both cold and hot breakfast items. I would definitely return to this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
Two thumbs up for this one!!
Thanks for your kind remarks about our hotel. Also wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed meeting all the guests who were attending the tournament. It was a great week for us as well.
This is an older but remodeled Embassy Suites. It is roughly halfway between the airport and downtown. The staff is super friendly - loved the bartender Johnny in the bar. The area is not where you typically find an Embassy Suites - an industrial park and I mean big semi trucks and warehouses. It seemed odd and I could not figure out the clientele. I stayed there because I wanted a cheaper Hilton property outside of downtown. The parking was inadequate - they had a meeting and all spots were taken. But the rooms were nice, bathroom was small, but all was renovated. For one night and the great staff it was fine. And Johnny should get a raise.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your comments with us. True, the first impression of location can be deceiving. Had you been able to stay longer than the one night you would have had the opportunity to visit the Northfield Entertainment and Shopping District, or had the chance to take in a Colorado Rapids game at nearby Dick's Sporting Goods Stadium. We feel we offer the amenities of center city hotels without the traffic.
Johnny is great, and his personality really shines at all times. I will let him know that his efforts were spotlighted in your comments. And thanks again for staying with us.
We selected this property based on the reputation of Embassy Suites and this property did not disappoint. We arrived after a very long trying day and the nightly reception was just what we needed. An excellent bartender was serving up very nice drinks and there were plenty of fresh, delicious snacks. The hotel is about 20+ years old but nicely updated and close to the interstate for easy access. Very comfortable rooms with updated televisions. You cannot go wrong with this hotel.
I can personally relate to long, trying days traveling with the family. Finally arriving at the hotel, and getting a chance to relax is no small pleasure. We really appreciate your kind comments about our hotel and team. Truly a great way to start our week. Thanks!
Embassy Suites - Denver - Stapleton was a perfect spot for my daughter and I to stay on our short trip to Denver for the World Lacrosse Championship Games 2014. The accommodations were very nice, but the people were even better! We appreciated the complimentary shuttle to the Dick's Sporting Goods Park and to the hotel. The breakfast was nice, particularly the made to order omelets.
Thanks for letting us know about your stay with us. Our team really enjoyed being part of the World Lacrosse tournament and getting to meet so many great people that were in Denver to attend the tournament. You have made our day!
