This zoo has a long history and some of the exhibits are a bit dated. Others are amazing and quite forward thinking in their design - particularly the Predator Ridge - with lions, hyenas and other African animals right near the Zoo entrance. The tropical Discovery building was also very impressive with monkeys, fish, turtles snakes and komodo dragons. The great Ape building was decent with great viewing opportunities. There were tiger cubs and a baby giraffe when we were there. Also a new baby orangutan and a baby flamingo. We watched the polar bear and the sea lions (separate exhibits)for quite some time. We spent the better part of the day at the Zoo.

We visit the Denver Zoo often during the year. We love the Zoo Lights in December and Zoomily in the fall. We are members and love all the benefits! They have a fun train and carousel (cost) and lots of shows. Parking is free, so get there early! Staff is friendly and informative. They are building a new Asian Tropics area that is going to be awesoem. My kids love the Tropical Discovery rainforest. The zoo is open year round and we have a family tradition of going on Christmas Day (if it isn't too cold) because it isn't busy at all!

We were only able to visit the zoo from about and hour and half and we were able to see 3 shows! They brought a lioness into an area where they interacted with her and the crowd was able to see up close and listen to a very good presentation. The next show was the sea lions' feeding in which the instruction was also very good. We wondered over to the elephants and were able to watch the care takers interact with the animals even though a show was not scheduled. The Denver Zoo seems to really care out their animals and encouraging learning and interaction.

We usually go to the zoo about once a year and it is still a fun fun time. A word of advice though get there early as their parking garage fills up quickly! It is free to park so that is a plus, the tickets are on the high side but if you go to Wendy's before hand you can get a four dollar coupon each off. The zoo is still a good time with a lot to see, we spent about four hours there and saw everything.

Not sure how happy all the animals were, but I'm sure they are taken care off. Seeing african savannah animals pacing through the snow is nothing but surreal and something of a must!

I loved it and so did the kids.
