the playground at City Park was a ton of fun for my kids!! they love exploring playgrounds and this was one of their favorites.

A couple of tables to sit in the shade. Cute mini tire swing, and lots of climbing structures.

As others have said though - watch out for the geese, at one point, many of the other families left, and we pulled out the snacks, and the geese came walking right up to us! Plus, droppings were everywhere.

port-a-potties available, though, I don't advise you use them. My husband had to and indicated that it was disgusting, and not something he'd have used if he hadn't absolutely needed to!

Attended the last city front jazz session at the park tonight. Music was awesome and it was easy to hear from almost anywhere around the pond. Music starts at 6 and goes until around 8. Parking is free. There are about 30 food trucks there that you can order from or you can bring a picnic. No glass is allowed in the park so if you want to bring drinks make sure they are not in glass containers. Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on and find yourself some nice shade.

My first impression of city Park is a cesspool of a pond filled with geese. The whole eastern part of the park is open space overrun with geese and weeds. West of the pavilion is much more well-maintained Nice paths and flower gardens. The place was virtually abandoned on a late afternoon in July. Other than people working on their cars and smoking pot, the park wasn't being used much. The pavilion is a beautiful structure that is gated and locked, a Virtual no man's land. I can't believe how this resource is being squandered. Other cities would have markets, performers, restaurants in this area.
The situation changes dramatically on Sunday afternoon's when Jazz in the park is being held. The park becomes unrecognizable with dozens of food trucks, thousands of people playing volleyball and frisbee, dogs and kids running around. Even with hundreds and hundreds of dogs, I was very impressed with the responsible owners. They kept their dogs on the leash and cleaned up after them.it reminded me of Fourth of July at a huge park where everyone is relaxing and enjoying themselves, but with jazz music instead of fireworks. It would be really nice if the city put some resources into the park, cleaned up the pond and eliminated the geese. Simple shore bank plant restoration would likely deter the geese from staying.
