Description: Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in. Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own. At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Root down was a great experience. Their decor and available outdoor seating are miles above avg. food much better than most and some of the best drinks in town. Wonderful to take friends from out of town to.

This restaurant is an old Garage. Reservations are a must on a Friday night after 6. We met at 5pm and there was seating however quickly filled up! We sat outdoors, it was great! The service was just as great. As it was getting busy we asked that the server to let us know if we were over staying our welcome, as we sipped another glass of wine. She was so kind and made sure we took our time. Be aware, portions are normal size with beautiful presentation, not a full mound of food. I felt it was perfect. Most if not all organic, fresh and as local as they can get. Enjoy!

Have always heard great things about Root Down and finally had the opportunity to experience it for myself. Fun atmosphere with great art all around the restaurant and great staff help add to the energy.
Food is amazing. We were a party of 3 and decided to share plates so we could try several options. Enjoyed the Lemon Ricotta Gnocchi which blew us away. Top anything with a poached egg and I'm sold! The flavors in this dish were deep and the english peas were a nice fresh addition. The Ranch Meatballs came next and were equally enjoyable with great flavors. The best was the 56 hour Beef Short Rib. How you can braise a short rib for 56 hours and still have it be moist and tender is puzzling, but they do it! The meat was so tender with beautiful bold flavor sitting on a creamy scoop of polenta. WOW!
Our reservation was at 9:15 pm on Saturday so there was a fun buzz of energy in the place when we got there that slowly quieted down which gave us time to enjoy Our dessert the Banana Creme Brûlée Pie. What a perfect way to finish an amazing meal. They actually take slices of bananas and torch sugar on them giving them and incredibly delicate crunchy crust and the pie itself was like silk.
Just like all the other reviewers state, this is an amazing restaurant and you will not be disappointed with the food, beverages, energy and atmosphere! Keep up the fabulous job, Root Down!

We dined as party of three at Root Down on Saturday, March 1 during Denver’s restaurant week. Root Down was recommended to us by native Denver residents who know the organic, local, sustainable food scene very well. Not knowing the Denver neighborhoods at all, the restaurant seemed a little off the beaten path but only a 10 minute drive from our hotel downtown. We got in early as walk-ins with no reservation, promising the hostess that we would be done by 7:30 pm.

The restaurant décor seems to be all reclaimed and repurposed materials, including the old basketball court flooring.

The server explained the interesting menu options and specials. One of our party is a vegetarian and had no trouble finding a complete meal. We had the bison meatballs: out of this world delicious, you must try these. The carrot and red curry thai soup was excellent, as was the warm root vegetable salad and roasted squash risotto. There was also a special featuring pork belly, which turned out to be one of the crown jewels of the meal.

The ladies room was interesting as a little alternate sink was available above the toilet tank which recycled the hand-washing water for the next flush.

The service was very good and the atmosphere cozy and friendly. Root Down is a good place for friends or business associates to relax and chat without the typical bar-restaurant racket. I would recommend it for anyone interested in a very creative healthy menu.

First time in on a late night with gf~ cocktails at the bar were yummie and Samuel was very attentive.
Second time back with 2 friends for sit down dinner. We tried a few items. Not to be outdone by their sister shop 'Linger", the ingredient/spice combinations are all very fresh and spot on. Serving sizes yielded enough for 3 ladies to share all 3 dishes with taste back 2nd helpings.
The super-grain mix was lovely and light. Grilled chicken with a green curry sauce that puddled the plate was spicy with enough umooph of flavor. Tofu steaks, battered with light crumb, had substance and flavor. Overall a nice meal and a def to return!
