If you need a respite from the over stimulation of travel, try the Botanic Gardens. It's a lovely, quiet haven filled with an extraordinary variety of plants. You can choose the splashy color of annual and perennial plantings, or the quiet green of the elegant Japanese garden, the lushness of water plants or the dry grass prairie area. While there is room for kids to roam, there are also a number of secluded spots with benches that are perfect for a summer evening picnic. Frequent sculpture displays add to the beauty. As Denver residents, it's one of our favorite spots to visit regularly and observe the seasonal changes.

If botanic gardens are your thing, the Denver Botanic Gardens are well worth a visit. Very nicely laid out, with a number of different "rooms". You can see everything in an hour or two, or take as long as you like.

Love these gardens. The lily pond is especial lovely!
Great place for families. Just be careful to keep an eye on your really little ones.
The lily pond is gorgeous but when we were there noticed how very dark the water is. Also had no protection to children from falling in. One afternoon while visiting there was a young mother briefly searching in a panic for her two year old. Several of us of course tried to help her, just hoping he was alright. Thankfully he was found quickly dry, safe & sound.

Think the gardens would make a great date place. Just being there alone would be nice as well.
Enjoy.

We always enjoy visiting the Botanic. There is always something new to see. The area is full of vintage homes, a delight to look at as you drive to the Gardens. In the Gardens themselves, we especially enjoy the big "Terrarium", the Orchid Room, the Asian Garden, and the Bible Garden. Parking is convenient and free. The gift shop is large and full of artistic offerings and plants to take home for your own landscape. A true city treasure.
