“Beautiful!”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

We took our 2 boys ages 7 and 4 and we all loved the view! It was a bit chilly and rainy the day we visited, but the weather did not take away from the view or our experience!

“A must see for everyone especially low landers”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

A short 45 minute drive from Denver is the Mt Evans road. You can drive all the way to the top and see fabulous views. There is great scenery all the way up sometimes view mountain goats. There are also great hiking trails for the energetic ones of you. This is Colorado, the weather is changeable be sure to bring water, snacks and warm clothes in any season. It has been know to snow in summer up here or be bright and clear but cooler than Denver since it is very high up. Great for photographers. There are picnic grounds and outhouses on the way up.

“Mt. Evans--best damn 14er to drive up!”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

The road to the top of Mt. Evans is not to be missed! It's one of the highest paved roads in the world, and when topped, has a breathtaking view of the eastern Plains of Colorado. One a clear day one can literally see all the way to Wyoming, and almost all the way to New Mexico!

The mountain goats and sheep are pretty accustomed to the sight of visitors and can be easily photographed, and let's not forget Pete the Marmot! The Summit House,, though largely destroyed in a fire, has been partially rebuilt to serve as a shelter from the near-constant winds and as a place the goats and sheep amble around on and in. To summit the mountain, you must walk up the last 200 or so feet, so take water--it's easy to get dehydrated at this altitude and dryness, which can lead to painful headaches--and take your time, if not acclimated to being at 5000 feet (1600 m) or higher.

Be careful of the always-present front heaves, the sheer drop-offs, and the narrow roads. For flatlanders, you will be AMAZED!!

“Mt Evans”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Where else can you drive to over 14000 feet? This is a great place to take visitors to CO to experience a 14'er by car. The view is magnificent. The drive is fun and sometimes frightening with the drop offs on the road. The mountain goats are usually there to greet you. I love this drive!
