On the positive side, this is an urban trail that's flat, relatively scenic and accessible for runners like me who stay at downtown hotels. Just keep your eyes open for speedy bikers and the homeless folks who inhabit the trail.

Denver has great bike paths along Cherry Creek. We spent several hours riding along Cherry Creek the first day we were in Denver. We used the City Bikes, which you rent for $8.00 for the entire day. Basically you use the bikes for 30 minutes and then return them to a kiosk (they are located all through the city, every few blocks), and if you want take another bike out for another 30 minutes, and so on. The trail is well paved and marked, and goes on for miles. We took a break at one point to visit the huge REI store near Confluence Park. Wish there was a bike path like Cherry Creek in my town!

Nicely kept, and paved trail parallels Cherry Creek, and gives you a feeling of being in the country instead of a busy city! Streets are clearly marked so you can determine where you are, and trails are below the overpasses, so no traffic to navigate! Trail is wide enough for runners and bikers to coexist. There are a few homeless people camped out in a few different areas close to the downtown area, and trails occasionally get congested, but for the most part easy to navigate.

I've ridden this path for many years. I still ride here but visitors should note that it has become a haven for homeless. Also, many cyclists here are rude and endanger everyone by riding too fast for the crowded conditions. I see behavior here that simply wouldn't be tolerated at the equally crowded Wash Park, where multiple use paths are a friendlier, civil delight. Avoid this path at night. Use caution during daylight hours.

Until they finish the work between Downing and Colorado, it's a hassle. If there is a newbie rider in front of you, be patient. When it goes to single file in that area, it can get a little creepy. Otherwise, hop on and start spinning!
