Great tour. Very knowledgeable tour guide and free sampling at the end! You get to learn a lot about the how whiskey is made and history behind it. Definitely suggest this tour if you are looking for something to do in Denver.

“Proof of the proof”

We were ignorant of how whiskey is made, so this tour was both a fascinating and educational experience. The tour is free and lasts about 45 minutes. There is a limit to number of guests, so call ahead for a reservation. Photos are permitted throughout the tour. Our guide was exceptionally good and explained the process very thoroughly and answered all questions. The ending taste sampling is more than just "Here, have a sip." The guide will walk you through the sniffing and sipping process. There are, of course, opportunities to buy whiskey and related gifts, but absolutely no pressure to do so. Consider taking the later tour (5 p.m.) and then eat at the distillery's restaurant.

“Lots of fun!”

Not being from Colorado, we had never even heard of Stranahan's, but we saw it in a guidebook and decided to try for a tour. We did not have reservations, but walk-ins are accepted. The tour is free and was very thorough and professional while still being tremendously fun. It was about an hour and included a tasting at the end, along with a Group photo later published on Facebook. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend this tour. I was only sorry I could not buy a bottle of this really great whiskey but we were flying out the next day and only had carry-ons (and this liquid was more than 3 oz.!).

“Interesting! Learned that adding water changes the taste (and makes it last longer)!”

Jeff was a great tour guide. He gave us the history of the distillery and was very knowledgable. He encouraged questions and comments, especially in the tasting room. He liked to hear what we smelled and tasted when we tried the whiskey, and really emphasized the experience of drinking it. It would have been fun to see how the bottling machine actually worked (even with water). Fun, unique experience - just make sure to make reservations for a tour on their web site as they fill up fast.

“Very informative. ”

While I'm not a fan of whiskey, I really enjoyed this tour. The tour guide really tries to engage and makes the tour fun. The tour lasts about 45 minutes, but it goes by fast. They give you a background of how stanahans started, and what the process is. We weren't whiskey experts, and we thought the information wasn't going over our heads. It was really cool to see how the barrels are stored, and to learn how the whiskey acquires its color, taste and aroma. Also, really cool to see how they do all the bottling in this relatively small room, with the help of volunteers. At the end they do a tasting, the room where they do it is nicely decorated with barrels as tables and nice memorabilia on the walls, this is also where you can buy souvenirs or whiskey. The tasting was pretty cool, the guide shows you how to "properly" taste it and smell it while integrating all the information from the tour. Like I said, I don't like whiskey at all, but the tour and the aroma are awesome. At the end, they take a picture of the group and post it on facebook. Overall, it was awesome and best of all, it's free!
