Denver Restaurant Week gives us the opportunity to try new places. We chose Big Easy because we love New Orleans-style food. We were not disappointed. Started our evening with Hurricanes that actually had rum in them (never a guarantee when we eat out). The oyster appetizer was wonderful, light but the shellfish flavor came through. The Gumbo was spicy, and had a lot of substance to it. The side corn muffin complimented it well. The Red Beans and Rice was just the right level of creamy, hints of green pepper and perfectly-done rice. The bold Etouffe had a generous helping of shrimp, and crawfish, but I was not adventurous enough to tackle the intact one. Desserts were excellent - portion sizes perfect for our appetites. The server was charming and just the right combination of attentive and discrete. The only downsides - our table by the door suffered the occasion waft of teen-degree weather, and the noise level took some getting used to. That said, we will definitely return. All in all an excellent place to indulge your inner Cajin.
