Description: Opened in April 2001, Mizuna showcases Frank Bonanno’s dedication to fresh, simple ingredients and seamless service. The menu changes monthly and features dishes that range from local game to peekytoe crab. The fare is imaginative and artistic, but pure, clean flavors render even the most exotic fare familiar. Rated by Zagat’s as one of the top restaurants not just in Colorado, but in the nation, Mizuna is ultimately an American-style restaurant heavy on French technique, influence and philosophy.

Mizuna is a gem, an impeccable yet comfortable little restaurant that joyfully presents its remarkable cooking skills without arrogance.

I've never had a dish disappoint. While lobster mac and cheese is now a rather dreadful standard these days, I believe it was introduced in Denver at Mizuna, and their take is sublime and wonderful. Another example is the foie gras, an ingredient too often brutalized by heavy handed chefs, is perfectly seared or roasted with clever accoutrements.

The fish is as good as you will find anywhere, and the meat side will always have something unique like ostrich.

If you are looking for a great place to dine with your SO with creative food and friendly yet professional service, Mizuna is the place to go.

The food was incredible, the service was excellent and the wine steward was fantastic. One of the best meals I have ever had in Denver.

We went to Mizuna for a mid-April birthday celebration. As always, the food was incredible, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere perfect. This is clearly one of the very best restaurants in Denver. It is hard to go there and not have the mac and cheese. And after a full meal, we thought maybe the three of us would share one or two desserts, but they sounded so good that we ordered three and they disappeared. Great Denver restaurant that continues to maintain its excellent rating.

Our group of seven was anticipating special French food and wine as we made the one-hour drive to the highly recommended Mizuna restaurant. As we entered the restaurant, our appetites were stimulated by seeing freshly baked bread loaves come from the oven. Our dinner reservation was early by French standards, and tables steadily filled during the next couple of hours. Our gracious waitress was completely familiar with menu listings and answered our questions in detail. Mizuna’s creative touches are evident in its interpretations of familiar and more unusual dishes. Most of us chose a glass of wine, an appetizer, an entrée and later, a dessert. Each of us selected different dimmer combinations. My wife had a crab salad appetizer, bacon-wrapped Monkfish entrée and a poached pear dessert. She found the taste equal to the exquisite appearance of each dish. The poached pear was as good as we’ve had in France. My appetizer casssouet with rabbit ballotine over the pork belly and white bean mixture was a flavorful variation on more typical cassoulets. My Red Snapper entrée was enhanced with rich accents of sauce and garnishes. My apple pie dessert was different and delicious, with apple slices, cheese-filled pastry and ice cream. The chefs all seemed enthusiastic and the wait staff was congenial and attentive. When each course came to the table, the server gave a detailed description of all the ingredients and how the dish was prepared. Fine food, excellent service and a comfortable setting made this a special evening.

Pleasantly surprised, very nice restaurant, quality food although menu not as expansive as one would have thought.. but that in itself is not a bad thing. Service was excellent, efficient and knowledgeable about the offerings. At the higher end of price spectrum so do not head there expecting a cheap feed.
