“Good location for this great hotel”
Reviewed 26 September 2010

We stayed at this hotel for one night while visiting Denver on vacation. It looks like a nearly-new hotel and everything was very clean. I think a developer must have bought the tiny bit of land and decided that they could fit a hotel there. Well, they did but it's a small "boutique" type Hampton, with a very cramped parking lot. Our rental car was small but we had trouble squeezing it in... I imagine folks with big SUVs would have to park in the overflow lot across the street. But the hotel is easy to find and just a couple of minutes from downtown Denver.

The smell of freshly baked cookies welcomed us when we checked in. The business center is off the lobby with two computers for guest use. The free wireless worked fine in our room. We had a corner room on the top floor which made it extremely quiet, although according to the hotel map our room was among the smallest ones. The room was bright and comfortable with some nice extras including a ceiling fan and extra mirrors, plus an additional counter outside the bathroom.

The immediate neighborhood looked safe but I wouldn't want to walk around at night. It seemed a lot trendier a few blocks farther north. The hotel staff recommended an Italian restaurant about 3 blocks north on Zuni. Great choice! The hotel breakfast was good and the coffee was excellent. Overall it was a nice stay and I'd stay here if I was in Denver in the future.

The hotel was ideal for us to catch the Californian Zepher at Union Station at 8:00 am in the morning. Just a few minutes in a taxi.
It was an easy walk to the pedestrian 16th street, worth a visit.
The hotel was realy nice and the staff were excellent.
Not sure about eating close by, didnt find anywhere close but we didnt try too hard.

Hamptons vary in quality, but this one is excellent. It is located on the periphery of downtown, but a 15 minute walk on pedestrian paths along the creeks gets you into the downtown area. A short distance the other direction on Speer are some trendy restaurants. The rooms were quiet, The beds very comfortable and the staff super-friendly. I wouldn't think of staying elsewhere in Denver.

This Hampton Inn combines ease of access by car, with free parking beside interstate exit, and walking distance to downtown. It took us a little over 20 minutes to reach downtown Denver with a brisk walk. Our third floor room was clean and spacious with great views over Denver. The one downside was a consistent loud humming noise heard continuously through the day and night on our section of the third floor. Breakfast was adequate and typical of Hamptons' and other similar motels. The reception staff were both friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to any tourist visiting Denver in a car with an average budget .

Good value for a hotel that's a 5 min cab ride from downtown Denver. Rooms were clean, fairly large, and had everything I needed. Only room complaint was that fan in the bathroom never switched off and I could hear it while trying to sleep - closing the door reduced the noise though. Free wireless was good/reliable (I've checked out, and am sat in their lobby using it right now!). Cleaning and management staff were friendly/helpful. Breakfasts were okay, but I am always massively disappointed (if not surprised) by the number of US hotels (including this one) that use disposable plates, bowls, cups and cuttlery. It's an environmental disgrace.

When we are on travel, we prefer to stay at Hampton Inn where ever it is possible. Therefore the Hampton Inn Denver Speer Boulevard was also our choice when we came to Denver. After staying for 5 Nights at this property, I can clearly say, that it was by far the most inconvenient stay I ever had at an Hampton Inn.
The hotel is located close to the interstate and easy to find. Parking is "behind" the building with limited space but an "overflow parking lot" is just across a small driveway. It was no problem to find a parking space at any time.
Check In went fine and the frontdesk clerk was very friendly. First we got a room on the top floor, in which was a low-frequent noise coming somewhere from the ceiling. We requested another room and got one on the seconde floor which loojed god at the first view. When we left to town for dinner, we (randomly) detected, that the frontdoor of our room did not lock properly. The door could be opened by pressing hard against it, even it seemed to be closed. We reported this issue at the frontdesk and the clerk promissed to help immediatley. After half an hour, he showed up with a new set of batteries to replace the old ones in the lock. Since it was clearly a mechanical defect, this did not solve the issue. Ignoring this fact, he continued with trying another set of batteries. After that, in a last act of desperation, he tried to reprogramm our access cards, which -surprise- also did not solve the mechanical problem. Meanwhile more than two hours were gone, since he also had to jump back to the front desk frequently to check in other guests. Needless to say that we meanwhile lost our reservation for a dinner table. Finally we got a third room in which we had to move again. Beside the fact, that we we found some left pices of clothing in the chest of drawers, this room was o.k. and - most important now - the door locked properly.
Two days later, we walked down the corridor, when we saw a man coming out of the room we had left because of the faulty lock. We asked him if the lock works now, and he says that he stays here as a guest, not knowing of any issues. We told him the issue we had and he pressed against the recently locked door, which opend! First he was surprised, than he was really upset... We are really wondering how they can give a room where they do know that it can not be locked properly!
Beside this hassle, also the other parts of the hotel did not met the level of quality we were used to find at a Hampton Inn. The pool area, located in the basement, did not look inviting at all and at braekfast they mixed up the orange chuice with water, probably to save money.
If this would have been our first stay at a Hampton Inn, we would probably never return to and hotel of this brand. Fortunately we know other Hampton Inn and the level of quality they consistently provide, so we will only never return to this property.
