I was able to book a reservation at this hotel a few short weeks after it opened. One word describes it – wow. Large bathroom, huge shower, big screen TV, mini-fridge, VERY comfortable bed, robes and slippers provided, valet parking, and a great location. Wish I had the time to stay longer.

My only complaint upon checkout was that for us out of towners a listing of the TV stations would have been helpful. It was explained that this was on the iPAD we had in the room. But not being iPAD saavy we did not know how to utilize it.

The hotel bar overlooks the station waiting room and our bartender (Bryce) was friendly, knowledgeable,, makes a mean drink, and was eager to experiment and put together drinks based on personal tastes. He introduced us to a local bourbon (Breckenridge) – we were lucky enough to visit a liquor store and purchase a bottle before we departed.

First of all, let me start out by saying this hotel has done everything right. They were still in the midst of a restoration/grand opening and somehow managed to think of every accomodation to make their guests feel like they were being cared for exclusively. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out; our needs were thought of before we even knew we needed something! Each night we had a turn down service that included not only the sheets turned down but bottled water was presented on each night stand with our slippers laid out for our arrival. Soft music was gently playing in the background, the room had been straightened and this was done AFTER the morning room service! The room was beautifully decorated which seemed to take in account the history from which the hotel came from ( Denver's Iconic Union Station) to the perfectly blended modern era in which is currently serves.

The staff was incredible from Andrew the general manager (mixing in with the guests to oversee our needs and wants) to the helpful and friendly desk staff, bellmen and the incredible bar staff in the Cooper's Lounge. I know this all sounds too good to be true or a bit over the top but all I can say is this was our experience for five days and the level of competence an service did not change with the changing of staff members. We even were treated to rides in the Tesla to the car rental facility, a play and they even came to pick us up to be able to return to the hotel.

I have stayed in other upscale hotels in Chicago, Florida, New York, Nashville and more but the Crawford has them all beat as the seemed to have themselves together and deliver the whole package!

Room Tip: We stayed in the gallary room and found them conveniently located to the elevators.

My wife and I stayed at the Crawford for one night, excited to check out the new Union Station and hotel. The hotel, and room itself were really pretty cool. It was fun to stay in such a historic and unique location, right inside Union Station. Aside from that, these guys really need to get their stuff together. The hotel is advertised as having room service (they even advertise it in their in-room iPad system). We were really excited to make use of the room service from The Kitchen and Snooze, but once we got there, we were told that it isn't available. The bathroom was also a little dirty when we got there, and the furniture was pretty banged up for being a new hotel. The walls are also pretty thin, so expect to hear noise from the hallways and surrounding rooms.

We booked our trip through an online travel site, and pre-paid for our room. When we were checking out, we made sure to let the clerk know that we had already paid, and he assured us that there were no charges. However, he would not let us see the receipt for our stay, as they were using a new iPad checkout system that they had just set up. I came home to check my bank account, and sure enough, I was charged again. We called the hotel and will have to wait until Monday to get the charges refunded.

This hotel has a lot of great potential to be a truly unique experience, but until the kinks are worked out, it will continue to be a flawed destination.

Dear Greg J,

Thank you for your comments and review of The Crawford Hotel. Please let us know if the charges still stayed on your bank account and we will make sure to take care of the credit. At times authorization charges stay on as a charge and takes a few business days to drop off. We would love for you and your wife to return to stay with us after all of our amenities are in place. Please give me a call at (303)628-5401 prior to your return.

We were taking the train in the morning so stayed here for the convenience of not commuting in the morning and to take in the Union Station experience. Room was cramped and we kept bumping into the tv on the wall just to walk past the beds. Room was very noisy, could hear the people next door quite clearly. Front desk clerk was very friendly and efficient. Pricey, you are definitely paying for the location. No tub but a very large shower with dual shower heads. Not enough towels left for a reservation with 4 people in room. We would not stay again, there are better options downtown.

We stayed here for our anniversary the weekend of July 17th. Picked it for the location in downtown and easy access to restaurants and other areas.
It did not start off well. Dropped the car off with the valet ($34 overnight) and went in to check in. It was about 2 and we knew if we were early we would just check our bags until our room was ready. The room wasn’t ready and we left to shop and explore. We came back about 4 and the room still wasn’t ready. We waited another hour. We were not the only ones as at least 2 other pairs/groups were waiting as well. At one point it was suggested we use the bathrooms down the hall to change into our evening formal wear. Not a great start.

After getting our room we got dressed for dinner and explored the hotel. The 3rd floor South-west seemed to have windows that opened to the outside.

4th floor has the largest rooms and an area that looks out into the large lobby for the train station, hotel, bar, and business. The cleaning crew there (3 of them) were polite and seemed to be hurrying around.

Mornings as the train pulls in/out can be crowded in the lobby. The sitting areas were not open yet.

Getting to the SW rooms requires going through the lobby and up an elevator directly across from the Amtrak ticket window. This was a bit crowded in the morning. The elevator requires key-card access.

Rooms to avoid/know about. 2nd floor rooms all face the railstation in the back. No noise issues as the window is double sealed. Just the view is plain.
Rooms 200-214 open into a hallway that looks, through glass, into a restaurant below. It was incredibly loud in that hallway and while I do not know how loud it sounded from inside the rooms, I would think it would have to have some impact.
Rooms 230+ on the Northeast side look below into Snooze and an area still under construction. It did not seem to be that loud when we checked it out in the morning.

300 rooms

Pullman room – okay, no fan in the bathroom, connects to adjoining room, did not hear much in terms of noise. The room had a smart TV where we could access the internet for movies/shows, a personal safe, complimentary slippers, and a tablet to lookup information on the hotel. The shower is large and contains the heat/steam well. Not quite a steam shower to the ceiling but it was effective.
We tried reaching someone at the desk about more towels and it took 2 calls and a long wait.

I liked the feel of the hotel, like the location, the rooms are nice and clean, but they still have a few kinks to work out. I would come back in a few months if the opportunity arose.

Room Tip: All 200 rooms face towards the train station. No noise issue (double sealed windows) but not a great...

We stayed here for 1 night. It had been open only 18 days. We loved it! Nice-sized rooms with high quality linens and furnishings. Beautiful bath with great fixtures and plenty of room. Location is outstanding with tons of restaurants in Union Station and the immediate area. The hotel staff goes above and beyond to please. Pet friendly. Drawback: no room service now except coffee service.

I was fortunate enough to stay here a few weeks after the hotel initially opened (just before the official grand opening). I was expecting there to be the standard "pre-opening" kinks but everything ran very smoothly. The rooms were very well appointed and the overall environment/area/ambiance of the hotel is great. There is no formal lobby to speak of (just a check-in desk in the main hall of the renovated train station), so a bit tough to navigate until you get the hang of it. Getting from check-in to your room can also be a bit clumsy (through some back corridors and up some elevators in weird corners...again just a factor of the hotel being integrated into the train station).

The fact that the hotel is part of the renovated and revitalized Union Station terminal makes this place a total hit. Tons of new bars and restaurants are all within the main station complex. (and some pretty high end restaurants as well)

I used to stay at the Oxford Hotel (right around the corner) but will now probably alternate between the less expensive of the Oxford and the Crawford.

Thank you for your kind words in your review of The Crawford Hotel. Denver Union Station is a grand and brand new destination in downtown Denver and thrilled you enjoyed the intricate architecture and design use of this project!
