“Great Addition To LoDo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

My husband and I stayed at The Crawford this past weekend and had a truly lovely visit.

The previous reviews in regards to the hotel being slow at room turnover is true. We tried to check in at 2:45 and our room wasn't ready until close to 4:15. Keep in mind we didn't ask for an early check in, but I feel that them knowing we were trying to check in early it shouldn't have taken an hour and a half. They did offer us another room type, but we really wanted to the one we had booked. But! If you're gonna have to wait for your room you have plenty to see, do, eat and drink in Union Station while you wait.

We had a Classic Deluxe room type. The room decor was what I would call modern vintage/art deco. Nicely done, however I feel that our bathroom needed one more piece of artwork. (Picky aren't I?) The room was really quiet, even overlooking the train tracks. Beds are really comfy!

Book the turndown service! It was great! Truffles, soft music and slippers put out for you.

The staff was very friendly and attentive.

Again, this property has only been open a little over a month and I feel that they are doing a pretty good job. Most of the hiccups came with other tenants in Union Station. (Terminal Bar, Genuine and Stoic and The Cooper Lounge. All three restaurants didn't have their stuff together.)

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to check out the amazing renovation of Union Station, and those who want to stay in the heart of LODO.

Room Tip: The second and third floors have lots windows and light, and are beautifully decorated. Word is that...

Dear coconutshrimp,

Thank you for staying with us at The Crawford Hotel and your candid review. As almost all of our rooms are unique, we do try to accommodate all requests for check in, but we apologize that you had to wait an extra long time to check into your Classic Deluxe room. We would love for you to return and experience our full amenities and the retail partners when everything is in full swing. Please call my office directly and we will be happy to assist you for your next visit!

Sincerely,

The Crawford is an elegant and inviting space. Old world charm with all of the modern conveniences. Although I was not given the room I had asked for upon arrival, I was compensated monetarily and given the loft suite I had asked for, the next day. The desk staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Andrew called me by name and asked how things were going whenever he saw me. The rooms were fresh and clean and the bathroom had a very large tiled shower with great water pressure and two shower heads. The special touches of truffles and bottled water were greatly appreciated. Two things for hotel management to consider are in room coffeemakers and some firm pillows. Pigtrain's coffee is fabulous but I didn't always want to get dressed and go downstairs first thing in the morning. I highly recommend the hotel and its warm ambiance. If you have an opportunity to stay there try the Copper Lounge, with its refined elegance, accessible to hotel guests!

Room Tip: Loft rooms are very large however the very high window does not allow for a view.

Dear HazelK K,

Thank you for staying with us at your candid comments about The Crawford Hotel. All of our hotel rooms are unique and I agree that our loft rooms do not have the expansive natural light of our other types of guest rooms but feature tremendous architectural detail as they are located in the "attic" of the Denver Union Station. May I suggest for your return to try our Classic or Pullman rooms? We are taking into consideration all of our guests' comments and will certainly consider all of your positive recommendations.

Sincerely,

Frederick J. Kleisner II

My husband and I stayed at the Crawford Hotel for my 30th birthday. This was our first trip without our 2 girls and it definitely is not the hotel if you are looking for a romantic get-a-way. The hotel is in a great location and is gorgeous, but unfortunately we didn't get the service everyone else is raving about. We arrived at the hotel around 10:30 am (they don't take requests for early check-in) and were told we could provide our phone # and they would let us know as soon as a room was ready. Well we waited and asked a few times if our room was ready and were told it would be a little longer. Then right before 3 pm (check-in time), I asked if our room was going to be ready any time soon and voila our room was ready. I would have rather been told that it wasn't possible to be checked in early then to be given false hope. We noticed during our stay that people were receiving a tour of the hotel upon check-in, but we didn't have that. We were told which way our room was and walked to it ourselves. We stayed in the Deluxe Loft and it had a dungeon feel to it. There's one small window that you have to stand on a chair to see out of. The furnishings were nice, bed was comfortable, nice shower, but you could hear every time a door closed and the plumbing was loud as well. They provide you with an mini iPad in the room to get extra towels, etc. The program shows that it is linked to valet, but it's not quite there yet. We had put in a request to get our car and show up to valet and they hadn't received the request so we had to wait another 15 min before our car was pulled around. Also, there is not any room service/in-room dining yet. They have some kinks to work out and need to improve their service. With that said, it is in a great location and Union Station itself is a fun place to hang out, but the hotel just didn't live up to the hype.

Dear Tanya L

Thank you for your comments about The Crawford Hotel and we sincerely apologize for the lack in providing you and your family the service and hospitality that you expected. The loft rooms and suites are located in the area that was the attic of Union Station and does not allow larger windows but houses some very unique architectural detail. For natural light and expansive windows, our Classic and Pullman rooms may be another room type that I may suggest for your next stay. I would love to earn the chance to host you for a return visit. Please call me at (303)628-5401 to discuss this further.

I stayed in The Crawford for a business trip from Aug 3 -9, 2014. My room was very comfortable, the bathroom was so large with a beautiful tub and a chandelier and a delightful shower! Andrew, the manger was very friendly and accommodating. The Union Station area was busy and fun with so many places to enjoy drinks and dinner. I loved the lobby bar/ ticket area! I walked one block to my work. Loved it can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: If you need a desk for business, ask for it. If you need a room with a view, ask for it. If you want...

A birthday celebration to check out the new Crawford hotel at Denver's newly renovated Union Station was delightful. The hotel was so new and clean and crisp; the rooms were excitingly friendly and warm; all new and shiny; artistically decorated with such charm. The service was exceptional; the staff so friendly and helpful from first greeting you after you leave your car with the valet and a small tour of facilities offered at check in. The bartenders in the Cooper Lounge, even the cleaning crew and the valet when you leave were all so friendly and professional. There is food and restaurants located throughout, everything is close by and in walking distance. The fountain at the entrance is beautiful and relaxing. We didn't use the trains or any of the available transportation this time but are looking forward to soon.

Union Station was rebuilt in July 1914 and it re-opened in July 2014 on its 100th anniversary. Hats off to the city planners and architect in Denver for this gorgeous historic restoration. The Crawford Hotel opened July 12 and some of the bars and restaurants just opened in late July. I found out about the Crawford scanning Hotels.com and it was listed as "New". I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and stopped looking. I wanted to stay in this brand new hotel and brand new Union Station. It was worth it! The check in was rough, our suite wasn't ready at 3pm - which was the guaranteed check-in time. But it was a one of a kind suite so its not like they could have put us in another room. Look at the pictures of the Lo-Do suite. Book it if you can. It's amazing but so was the normal room they gave us untll the suite was cleaned and ready. One bonus treat - the House Car is a spanking new Tessla and they will take you anywhere within 2 miles for free. This covers downtown and HiLo/LoHi - and LODO of course! Fun place to stay and try SNOOZE for breakfast - one of the most fun breakfast places I've seen in years. Obscenely deluxe French Toast and spicy Thai Bloody Maries.. Stay here if you can!

Room Tip: LoDo Suite is ridiculously nice and romantic, but a little pricey. Call them to see if its availabl...

Visited Marcel's new digs at the Cooper Lounge last evening with friends and family. An exceptional venue, great food, a wine list that only a pro like Marcel can pull together.

We have not tried the rooms yet but will. If you want a view along with the best service in Denver, don't stop, just get there. White Burgundy ruled the evening, suggested by the man himself.

Congrats to you guys on your new venture.

Room Tip: This place will rule Lodo
