Description: Opened in October 2007, Osteria Marco is intended to be the livelier, more playful younger brother to Frank Bonanno’s esteemed Italian eatery Luca. Guests are greeted at the top of a grand staircase by a cheese maker, deep in the throes of crafting burrata and charcuterie. At the bottom of the stairs, hundreds of bottles of wine line the walls and announce an affordable, yet progressive wine and spirits program. Whole roasted suckling pigs are the hallmark of Sunday evenings, and friendly engaging servers easily navigate diners through a thoughtful menu that runs a gamut from pizzas and panini to oven-fired shrimp, to crispy calamari and braised, lamb meatballs.

Be prepared to wait and then wait again. You can choose to sit outside on the patio or downstairs in the basement. It's always packed and thus I've only been there once. The pizzas are pretty yummy, but not worth waiting in line for in my opinion. If you enjoy the trendier parts of town and packed quarters, you'll like this place.

Great location, great atmosphere, great food, and most important...great wine! Dined al fresco during a recent business trip menu selections were amazing, offering some items I haven't had since last trip to Italy. Wine list is extensive with fabulous wines to choose from to suit every pallet. Appreciated that we were not rushed, yet well taken care of. This place is a gem!

Osteria Marco has the most reliably enjoyable cheese and meat plates in Denver, as well as a tasty stable of pizzas and other Americanized Italian treats. Down a flight of stairs from Larimer Street, the windowless area feels a bit like an old speakeasy. It's a great place to go with another couple who wants to eat adventurously.

Dinner in Larimer District, Denver, CO ... street dining at Osteria Marco Restaurant

We enjoyed our sidewalk table on Larimer Square on an August night watching all the people walk by and tasting our delicious food and libations.

We shared a platter consisting of thinly sliced deli-style-cured meats (four varieties x four-each).

My wife had rotisserie roasted chicken beautifully seasoned with rosemary springs served with polenta and brocolini.

Our son had a lamb meatball panini, Avery Brewing Company "Karma" - Belgian style pale ale followed with Great Divide Brewing Company's "Colette" a Saison-Farmhouse Ale.

I had roasted rabbit served on a bed of wild rice sautéed bacon (made from rabbit) , julian-cut sautéed baby carrots.

We enjoyed a delicious Sangiovese Toscana from Poggio Alle Sughere, Italy.

A very relaxing and enjoyable experience!
