“Great stay. The key is choosing the right room here.”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

Stayed four nights while visiting the downtown Denver sights.

Pros:
+ Gorgeous first impression with the chic lobby
+ Professional front desk staff, efficient check-in
+ Paid extra for a king corner mountain view room and was delighted even being on a low floor
+ Great layout, 3x the size of a normal room with a large walk-in closet leading to the bathroom
+ Oversized bedroom with a mini-sofa, ottoman and coffee table in one corner, tons of space around the bed
+ Perfect bed, comfortable linens and long pillows, far from hallway, slept great
+ Nice glass work desk area facing the mountains
+ Oversized glass windows enabling significant sunlight; effective blackout blinds rendered the room dark
+ Efficient A/C unit kept the room cool in the brutal heat
+ Appreciated the mini fridge and safe
+ Beautiful modern bathroom with nice tiling and quality toiletries
+ Free wifi for SPG members
+ As part of SPG's Green initiative, they offer 500 points or a $5 restaurant credit each day for those declining housekeeping service
+ Loved the food at Yard House restaurant and their impressive tap selection (there are half a dozen other options in the hotel)
+ Free 16th St. shuttle was very useful for getting to the LoDo district, Coors Field and the many lively spots. There are also free shuttles running along 18th and 19th
+ While the rates are egregious in the summer, they are fair relative to comparable hotels in downtown Denver

Cons:
- Zero hotel information in room. Arriving at night after a long flight, was unsure when bar/restaurant/room service ended. There was no room service card either. Upon investigation I learned one must access any information through a channel on the TV. Odd there is no notation of this anywhere
- Housekeeping did not speak any English
- Toilet had a very weak flush - had to hold lever down a few seconds each time
- Slightly crooked bathroom counter angled towards the floor ensured any water around the sink quickly found its way to the floor right where one would stand
- Participated in the Green program but was never credited with anything. I think housekeeping have a hard time keeping up with issuing proper credit even though it saved them a tremendous amount of work!
- Business center is a strange setup, it's actually a manned store just off the main check-in with limited hours. Just another cash grab. Saw it closed during the day with a "back at ..." sign

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel, but this is largely attributed to the room I chose and minimizing my reliance on others.

Note: There is a significant homelessness problem in downtown Denver. Be prepared to see swarms of vagrants riding the shuttles, camping out on the streets and harassing you for money. In dozens of major North American/European cities visited, Denver tops the list. Why are local governments and authorities apathetic to what is clearly a major problem?

Room Tip: Southwest facing rooms view the mountains. Splurge for a corner room in the main building.

The hotel is in the heart of downtown Denver. It's a big hotel so good for meetings if you have a large group. There are plenty of restaurant options in the surrounding neighborhoods. You have a Peetes in the hotel and SB across the street if you need your morning fix. The property is formerly the Adams Mark Hotel but Starwood has revamped and remodeled. That said, it's not the newest Sheraton I've been too but then again how many are brand new. Most have been upgraded over the years so you still see small signs of the age. Overall, 3.5 to 4.

Stayed at this hotel while in Denver for a convention. It was a very large hotel and difficult to navigate without getting lost unless you know what you are doing. I liked the rooms, beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel lobby was well done and it had a couple of places to grab food and drinks. The resort was close to the convention center and very close to the main 16th street mall area. I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in the area.

The only reason we booked this hotel as opposed to others downtown is because the music festival we were attending had a special rate going if we booked at this hotel. Downtown Denver is tricky to get around and trying to figure out were to park at the hotel was kind of a joke let alone the parking garage for the hotel.

This is the first hotel I have ever had to stay that required you swipe your room key to be able to use the elevator. I can understand this due to the amount of homeless people who were wandering the streets.

It is a great location within walking distance of many attractions downtown so that was a definite plus. The room was very nice and the beds were comfortable.

The bathroom though nice was not the greatest you could see the water pipes. The shower was very slick.

Room Tip: The room we had was far away from the elevator so that we did not hear people coming and going.

We wanted to stop by to check in and then go to dinner. The pull-in area was blocked, we paid for metered parking and went in looking for reception. No reception area and some confusing signs. We eventually figured out there were two parts to the hotel and we had to cross the street and go around the corner to the real lobby. What I fault is the bad signage. Surely there were better ways to explain to a first time guest where the lobby was. The person checking us in spoke so fast that I had to ask her twice what she was saying and then just gave up and hoped it wasn't important. We were staying in the Tower so we had to get back to where we had started. I guess the plus side of this was that we came across several people equally and even more confused and we all helped each other manage the layout and the elevators. There was a camaraderie born of the confusion.
I was on the 19th floor with a pretty nice view. Room was fine though not large. Typical tiny Sheraton bathroom. My coworker parked the car and said the self park was a little strange. At checkin we were not asked about parking so we had to go back to the other building and two folks at the concierge desk were very helpful in explaining the options. One was to put it on our room which required going back to reception.
I looked at the pool and it looked great but my time and the temperature prevented me from using it.
I would stay here again if I needed Starwood points. The second time would be less confusing and then I could help some lost souls wondering the halls trying to figure out where to go.

Room Tip: High floor for better view.

Green Features: I like that they have a wastebasket for recyclables though it is not labeled as such.

First, the hotel has a great location on 16th street! And, staff members are courteous. They offered to text me when my room was ready but did not. So I finally ended up going back to the hotel hours later to ask if it was ready which it had been for hours. Even though they called to apologize I nearly missed my evening scheduled event. I did notice there was a labor strike at the hotel thus perhaps they were short staffed. Do not let them put you in a room at the Towers. This is across the street and there is no ramp way for you to carry your luggage so you have to pull it over stairs or on the curb of the streets. This location is actually where all of the meetings are - very bizarre lay out. The room I stayed in was tiny. The bathtub would be comfortable for someone about 4 feet tall. There was a make-up mirror which is a good thing for us women but the lighting in the bathroom is very dim. Very disappointing for the price and what you expect from a Sheraton.

Room Tip: Only stay in the main hotel building, not across the street at the Towers.

Green Features: They do offer a $5 discount at one of their restaurants or 500 preferred guest points if you opt to not have your bed linens and towels replenished each day. I opted for the points but the cleaning staff gave me the $5 instead. There is a trash can for recycling in the room.

Great location, here for 4 days for a conference. Easy access to 16th Street Mall, tons of places to eat, shop, sight-see, etc. If you've never been here, brace yourself for the huge numbers of homeless people, or at least appear to be homeless (with expensive North Face backpacks and skateboards galore) all around the city. Hotel staff was great, especially liked the 'Green' option to opt out of room cleaning for $5 each day to use at the bar, store, etc. The only negative is they definitely need more signs to point you to your room, conference room, pool, or anyplace else you might be looking for in the hotel.

Green Features: Excellent with the $5 voucher each day that you could use at the hotel...1 free drink every other day is pretty sweet, and save washing all the sheets/towels everyday!
