The view and proximity to everything you need makes this a must to consider when traveling through the Rocky Mountains. I will likely plan a visit to Dillon simply because of the terrific accommodations. There are also a number of great restaurants nearby.

The Ptarmigan Lodge is a great location and a well maintained, clean and pleasant hotel. Breakfast was well presented and satisfying. The overall experience was an A+, especially for a Best Western, as the quality of these hotels vary widely.

very clean, great location and view, price fair, would stay again close to restaurants, linens and towels were good, bathroom had counter space, however this review form TA needs is a piece of crap and waste of time hotel ran out of eggs before end of serving time beds were comfortable, TV good, wifi good and 4G service in area.

The courtyard areas were beautiful and in bloom. Good size and clean room with a very comfortable bed. It was very nice to have the choice to eat the free breakfast inside or outside. The location was perfect for us as we could walk everywhere.

This was our first stay at this hotel. We stayed two nights. This hotel is really an incredible value for the money. Summer rates are inexpensive, and the hotel has a million dollar view of beautiful Lake Dillon! This hotel is all about location; it literally sits on what may the nicest piece of property in all of Summit County.

There are four buildings (more of a motel-type set-up); we stayed in Building 2, which I will call the "dog building", since this is where people bringing pets are housed (we brought our two small dogs). There is a $10 per night fee, per dog (wish this was free, but it's low enough compared to some other hotels that I won't complain). This building is one story (buildings 3 and 4 are two-story), and since it may have different features than the other buildings, keep this in mind as you are reading this review.

The dog building is closest to the main lodge building, and thus closest to the breakfast room. We loved that since it is one story and L-shaped, you can literally drive right up to your room - made for easiest unpacking from our car that we have ever had! Our room was large enough, with a king bed, smallish-but-updated bathroom, and kitchenette, which included a table and two chairs, cabinet, coffee maker and supplies, microwave, and medium-sized fridge with freezer section. There was also a chair sitting chair, flat screen tv, and closet. The furnishings were in okay condition - a little wear-and-tear showing, plain, and somewhat dated, and the table did not match the chairs. The bed and bedding were comfortable and seemed newer. The room was functional and clean, and that was the most important thing. Free wi-fi in our room worked fine. You can hear outside noise, but we were fortunate to have pretty quiet neighbors during our stay. We were a little annoyed that some neighbors were sitting in the entryway to their rooms smoking (signs say no smoking and a $250 fine), and the smoke occasionally wafted over to our room ( we had to shut that window for awhile, but could still keep the windows on the opposite side open).

I was very nervous, after reading previous reviews, about the lack of air-conditioning in summer. We don't do heat - cannot sleep in it all. In the dog building, the rooms have windows on two sides, so we were able to open them wide and got a nice cross-breeze at night. There was also an openable window in the bathroom (how often do you get that in a hotel?), which helped. The temps really drop at night (even in August) and I was actually cold enough at 4:00 a.m that I had to close a window. Our room also had a large ceiling fan which worked well. I was laughing at other reviews where people said that they didn't want to leave their windows open at night for safety reasons. Really?? This town is in a safe area - we never worried about safety. People in other rooms in our building even left their bicycles outside their doors unlocked.

The breakfast was a great quality - we have traveled a lot this summer, and this was one of the best free breakfasts we had. There is a lovely outside patio area in front of the breakfast room that has a spectacular view of the lake and mountain peaks. There are also restaurants in easy walking distance, including the wonderful Arapahoe Cafe, which is almost in the parking lot of the hotel. There is a lovely amphitheater at the water's edge just below the hotel where they have music on Saturday nights in the summer. The bike path that circles the entire lake (gorgeous!) is almost right in front of the hotel. Our room did not have a direct view of the lake, but when you step outside the front door, you have a full view of it. The hotel sits just above the lake, and some of the upstairs rooms in other buildings do have views.

Overall, we loved this place. Wish they would do some updates in the rooms, but the lobby and breakfast area are pretty and charming log-style. The Dillon area is great for us outdoors enthusiasts, with tons of recreation opportunities in all seasons. We are looking forward to coming back here for ski season - the Summit Stage (free bus service every half-hour to the ski areas) has a stop just across the street from the hotel. Grocery store and other conveniences nearby. We previously stayed in Frisco (other side of the lake), but I actually liked some aspects of the Dillon area (views, access to the lake) better.

Great value, beautiful setting, friendly staff, and you can bring your dog! We'll be back! :)

This hotel is 1 mile off the Interstate, but that makes all the difference. It's right on the lake, with beautiful wooded grounds and NO traffic noise. The free concerts on the weekend are just across the street and it's easy to walk or drive to restaurants. This was our second stay here and we would definitely do it again.

We stayed at this very well located, lovely hotel Saturday night. Had it been available for the previous night we would have stayed there as well. The facility itself is very well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was very nicely presented, with a nice combination for items, including protein! The location is in downtown Dillon, within walking distance to many restaurants, including a GF restaurant, marina, amphitheater, etc... Rooms were clean and well maintained, and ours had a nice little patio with chairs. We will return!
