“Great place to stay!”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

We had a great time at Circle K Ranch. It's absolutely beautiful here with plenty to do. The kids enjoyed floating down the river, which isn't very deep. However, it can get rough in places as there are lots of rocks. Our kids got scraped up a bit. I understand the river is higher earlier in the season (we went the first week of July). There is a great place for swimming below the bridge and right next to the first cabin. We all loved the horseback riding. The kids had fun on the ropes course, but were disappointed the zip-line is only for small children. We played volleyball, pool, and ping-pong. We had two families and rented two cabins, which were very nice. Although the kitchens are listed as "fully furnished," we found them lacking. One cabin was listed for six people but only had plates, cups, and utensils for four. There isn't a pan bigger than 4 quarts and I only had an 8" skillet to cook pancakes on which only allowed me to cook one big pancake at a time. If you want to do serious cooking, I would recommend taking what you need, especially if you will be cooking for a large group. (We were cooking meals for two families.) The kitchens did have a microwave, coffee maker, and toaster as well as oven and stove top and fridge. A few slotted serving spoons, a spatula, a couple small knives, small pots, small skillet, and some storage containers. If you need anything else, plan on bringing it yourself. Our cabin (Mountain View) has a carpeted loft with about a 2 1/2 foot clearance. This isn't listed in the description, but there's room up there to sleep a couple older kids on the floor or use as storage space for suitcases and such. Our cabin was lacking enough blankets, but when we asked for more we were given an abundance. Each cabin has a fire pit and picnic table and a couple of patio chairs. Close by is a camp ground with a little store where we were able to purchase some paper plates and ice cream cones! We discovered that 30 or so miles away is the beautiful town of Telluride which has a FREE gondola that we enjoyed riding to the top of the mountain to a beautiful little shopping/condo village. Way cool! It also has two waterfalls to see. The trip over the mountain to Telluride was breathtakingly beautiful and worth the trip all by itself. Between the ranch and our Telluride excursion, we had an absolutely fabulous time! Originally we only planned on going to Mesa Verde and found this on a fluke as a place to stay nearby. So glad we found it. Staying here was the best part of our whole trip!

Room Tip: The Lodge seemed a bit too rustic for our taste. Didn't see the motel rooms. Thought the cabins...

We made a last minute decision to stay at Circle K Ranch. We were taken in by the awesome views, the river running right in front of our cabin, the hospitality of the owners, just every part. We are most definitely going to make plans to stay there for at least a few days next May. We want to take part in the horseback rides and all the rest of what the ranch has to offer. We HIGHLY recommend Circle K Ranch!

Room Tip: We stayed in Cabin #2, a two bedroom with full bath. For a family, it was perfect.

The staff was excellent! So much for our teens to do. Would like to go back for longer next time! They have dorms for big groups, we payed a little more and got 4 hotel rooms (our kids are a bit snooty ;)) and it was perfect. Game room, horseback riding, hiking trails, by the stream. It was beautiful!

Good times are multiplied at the Circle K Ranch. What an enjoyment to attend a Women's Retreat and stay in the "Happy Cowgirl Room". The food was great! The people were all so friendly! I fell in love with my trail ride horse. The horse wranglers really know how to make you feel at ease and give you a special experience. I hope I can go back again someday.

What a great place. Friends and I stayed in Cabin 2, a two bedroom, right on the river with a deck and fire ring. We ended up staying an extra day (4 in all) because it was so peaceful and the staff were wonderful!!!! We had breakfast there everyday and it was homemade and delicious, thanks to Teresa. We are all planning a return trip as soon as we can.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are probably great. They have lodging rooms, cabins and RV places. We stayed...

What a blessing! This was perfect for our families vacation. Convenient to every location we wanted to visit. Cindy and her staff are amazing. Thank you so much for letting our grandkids have one of the best experiences of a life time. And a special THANK YOU to Julia and Tom. They're the best.

Room Tip: the Alpine Cabin is perfect for a family vacation of 9-10.

We would like to return to experience all the seasons. It is convenient to Telluride and Durango, but off the beaten path. The surroundings are hard to beat, as is evident in the pictures. They are pet friendly and family oriented. It was marvelous, and we traveled as a couple. The property lends itself to early morning and early evening walks, late evening campfires, and lazy horseback rides.

We would have liked to stay in one of the cabins, but they were booked. There are RV hookups as well. They also have bunkhouses for large groups. We stayed in the motel, which is quaint, clean, and sits just off the Delores River. It's an older property, and the plumbing makes odd noises. You can hear the neighbors, but it isn't too bad.

It's a long drive to a restaurant or store, so it's a good thing that the meals are filling, and taste good. We recommend signing up for meals, and bringing snacks and drinks for the duration of your stay in the motel. The cabins have kitchens.

The people are welcoming, and gracious. You won't be sorry you stopped by, and in doing so support their efforts to provide outdoor experiences for inner city youth.
