“Great Summer Getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

We had stayed at Priest Gulch a couple of years ago for one night as we passed through. We decided this year to go back to be near this beautiful river and countryside. Made reservations for 4 nights about a week before. When we checked in we were greeted in a friendly manner and noticed the cinnamon rolls they had for sale. Since it was later in the day on a Saturday they were half price. Excellent! Our site was right on the river, as are most of the sites, and our trailer (17 foot) was within 15 feet of the river. The campground is very quiet as a lot of the rigs are huge and not too many ventured out other than to walk their dogs. It rained almost every day and the river rose maybe a half foot to a foot while we were there.
All the facilities were clean and worked well, including the wi-fi. We will return, hopefully many times, to this great setting.

What an awesome place we found! We stayed here in June 2014, in our 30' 5th wheel.. This was a fabulous place, clean restrooms and no AC needed.. We found the park to be quiet and relaxing, free firewood, and lots of friendly people enjoying their entire summer here, I only wish it was me! We would have loved to be right on the river, but we could still hear the water from our site, and there are places for you to enjoy sitting in swings or just your lawn chair. Take the time to paint a rock, you can get the paint in the office, and make your memory. Hiking trails close by..

Don't listen to the reviews that say this is a 'friendly' place. Far from it. The rules here emulate a fascist government. The number of things you cannot do, don't walk there, etc. is staggering. We were there in a motorhome with our teenagers and were watched CONSTANTLY. It was ridiculous. Kids could not go into the bathroom themselves. What????? Furthermore, the man with the ridiculous hat that drives around on his cart was constantly watching my wife and daughters. You read into that. As a dad, I did not feel comfortable staying there and the final straw was when we moved the picnic table...within minutes he was there to move it back and scolded us for moving it. Then he watered the little bit of grass that we had in the MIDDLE OF THE DAY which of course meant we either walked through it and tracked water and grass into the MH, or I had to move the MH. So we did. Out of there. Oh, and the seasonal seniors that stay there have their wonderful clique. It does not include you. They stare at you (mostly the men) while the wives were gracious. But after meeting one couple it was obvious that this place is not for kids, regardless of the scenery. Don't go unless you do not have kids, love having to follow lots of rules, and make sure you have an ugly wife.

My husband and I have stayed here twice, first in the Bed and Breakfast room about three years ago for a couple of nights. We had overheard some people discussing this place while at the Cowboy Museum and was traveling that way so checked it out. It was so beautiful we made plans to return this last summer for a week. Our daughter and family joined us and we rented a cabin for a week! We had two grandchildren along, ages 11 and 9. We all had a wonderful time. Beautiful and peaceful. Lots of hiking. Can go many directions and see lots of sights! Staff was friendly. The park is well maintained. Many of the RV guests are repeats and most were very friendly! We will make plans to return there again and again!

This is our second stay at Priest Gulch RV Park. We loved it just as much as before! Friendly, clean, manicured sites, with great separation. Many sites are along the Delores River. There are also cabins and tent sites available. Many amenities such as free fire wood! Book well in advance as this is a premiere park in the gorgeous Colorado Rockies!

My husband and I have been returning to this park on and off for the past 12 years. Whenever we can get away this is probably our favorite RV park. The park is small, but all the sites are well situated to provide the most amount of privacy per site. Park is well run and the bathrooms, showers and laundry are spotless! There is a nice little clubhouse free for all to use too which is nice. 50 AMP sites, sites are pretty tight for a big rig (which we have) but the park is so pretty as soon as you finally get the coach parked (which takes some finesse and skill) especially driving a 45' coach over the very narrow little bridge at the park....but once you get through all of that...the park is worth it. Just pour yourself a glass of wine, set up your lawn chairs behind your coach and lean back and stretch out as you listen and look at the peaceful, beautiful little Dolores River flowing right behind your coach and you will forget all about the troubles in the world....because welcome to a little slice of heaven while you are here. Oh, and don't forget to go to the lobby to purchase one of Ernie's famous cinnamon rolls sold every Sat AM. Carry the rolls back to your site, site down in your lawn chair with a hot cup of coffee and your freshly made still warm huge cinnamon roll and you will definitely know what heaven will be like when we get there! Enjoy!

Room Tip: Go to the check in lobby to purchase one of Ernie's (the park owners) famous cinnamon rolls sold...

Peaceful and clean. A great place to stay. An hour fromTelluride, a great fishing area and wonderful rides! We will be back. The river puts you in a great place! Dog friendly. Everyone has own space, grass, firepit and wood.
