“Perfect place to relax...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2012

Love coming back to one of our favorite places to relax. This motel is just the place we want to be. Always clean and comfortable. The owners are super friendly and we love that they take so much pride in what they do for the motel. They seem to always be updating and keeping up the property. One of our favorite things is the courtyard it's so nice to sit outside and BBQ or just have a glass of wine. They have so many flowers that are lovely to look at and the hummingbird feeder by the office is so much fun to see all the many hummingbirds come around. We will continue to come and visit the wonderful Siesta Motel. I think more people need to keep focusing on supporting local family owned businesses such as this one. Thanks again for a great getaway.

The bed was comfy, the room was clean. The rooms are very small and there is one accessible outlet for your hairdryer, tech recharges, the coffee pot, etc. The wireless access is a SLOW connection. The office greeting was warm and friendly with good advice on where to eat. The bathroom is large, shower only, no bathtub. The towels and washcloths are on their last days (I hope). If all you need is a place to shower and sleep, this place will serve your needs. Shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer, and tissues are not supplied. Thinnest 1 ply TP on the planet is provided. (seriously!) Glad we weren't staying during snow season as a giant gap at the base of the door would have let the snow and wind blow right in. Truly, there was a giant spot of sunlight in our room from the base of the door.

Room Tip: Room was quiet all evening but you could hear all outdoor activity in the morning as if it was in yo...

We stayed here in May. We booked a room at the last minute with one queen bed. The family owned motel is easy to find and very affordable. The owner upgraded us to a king for no extra charge. We asked for suggestions on a good local restaurant and the owner directed us to a great BBQ place just a few doors down and even gave us a coupon. The parking lot is tight, but we had no problems. The bed was the best part. It was the most comfortable bed ever. My hubby said the beds in Las Vegas resort suites weren't half that comfortable. The bathroom was fairly large and the shower instantly had hot water. The room had several magazines about local attractions and was close to a trolley stop that took us to downtown and also a coffee shop that kept us awake for our trip on the Million Dollar Highway. They don't serve breakfast, but they had a picnic table and bbq out front so we used a camp stove and made pancakes and eggs for breakfast. We stayed that night and then again on our way back home since we enjoyed it so much. Would definitely stay here again and tell all our friends about the great service.

We stayed in a king room was very comfortable bed, clean, shower had great pressure. Was small but cute decor. We came down to ride the train and stayed 2 nights. If your not spending much time in your room was fine. Price a lot more economical than downtown, room was clean and would stay again.

Room Tip: King bed was greatr.

The owner was quite brusque on checking in, not friendly or helpful at all, which started us off on a bad foot. We paid $85 plus tax for 2 double beds, in June. The hotel is on a busy main road with fairly tight parking, there are loads of hotels along this road, we wished we had chosen somewhere else.

The too-soft bed was uncomfortable, with a dip in the middle. There was not enough hot water for two showers and the metal soap dish in the shower looked disgusting. The room was poorly lit at night with only 2 very dim lamps, so bad luck if you want to read. The window did not lock. No breakfast provided, free wifi. Really, a lot of negatives and not too many postiive aspects. There is lots of choice in Durango, stay somewhere else.

After reading reviews here I went ahead and booked our two nights in Durango. The process was easy enough even though they use an outside source and don't immediately confirm the reservation.
We found the motel easily since it is on the main drag, but it is an older Motel with very cramped parking in a U-shape. Beware: the parking is angled for driving in from either direction, thus difficult for turning around to drive back out.
Although I started the conversation on a pleasant note, I left the office with a verbal chill and only knowing where to find our room and the ice machine. Giving him the benefit that perhaps he was having a bad day, that was our only trip to the office and I was glad to leave without having to face him again.
We paid much more for this room than for a nicer and larger room in Albuquerque, and got so much less. The toilet paper was like onion skin, so very thin. The towels were new and almost as thin. We didn't use the kitchen and had to purchase our own coffee to use the coffee pot! However, there were two small refrigerators!
With the motto of the Best Kept Secret in Durango, I really expected more, but then again, we heard that same motto referenced at several establishments throughout the small town of Durango.
The landscaping and picnic tables were a plus, however, the tables are placed specifically for smokers. There is NO smoking in or near the rooms.
All in all, we stayed the two nights and slept fairly well, but Durango can keep this secret a secret, thank you.

Booked this motel because of the great reviews on this website. May be good enough for an older couple but not for a young family. Older motel, no pool. Our room (#6) had a kitchen in it which was nice - we used it very little however, but it was the only room available when we booked the hotel that would accommodate a family of 5. No dish cloths to wash dishes with, so I guess it was good we really didn't use the kitchen much. WAY Over priced for the amenities. Our room had two rooms to it, but only one small window ac in the main room. It cooled very poorly - at least they had fans for us to use. We left the ac on when we left to sight see and when we came back it was off again and very hot in the room - took forever into the night to cool the main room off. Our poor children only had a fan and we couldn't even open the windows in the room because there were no screens. Not enough towels in the room for a family of 5. First night we were there, we ran out of TP and no extra rolls in the room so we had to use restaurant napkins. Parking terrible, especially for larger vehicles, like full-sized trucks and suvs.
