“AWESOME FAMILY OWNED ESTABLISHMENT!”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

Rarely can you find such hospitality these days. In a world full of corporations merely trying to take advantage of its clientele, the Siesta Hotel in Durango, Colorado, stands out above the competitors. With an over saturated market of sleazy hotel owners, I have to say this is a new favorite of ours!

The owners are friendly and more than willing to offer quaint rooms and great services, with out the need to coax customers with dried out donuts for continental breakfasts and promises they can't keep.

Here you'll find friendly owners and family alike, who value their customers as much as their customers value them. A cut above the rest indeed!

Thank you for the room Siesta! The rooms aren't free, but your willingness to go above and beyond for your customers is bar none the best we've encountered during our travels.

Thanks again!

Cute little older motor court, I loved that we could park right by our room. The office was closed when we arrived, but the owner had called our cell earlier in the day and left us a key. The room and bath were very CLEAN and the pillow bed was great. The room was small with a funky tiny kitchen, loved having a back window. The furniture was tried and worn but functioned. The grounds were well maintained with proper lighting at night. I only saw the owners at check out (it's off season), but they always picked up their end of the phone and were very very helpful. For some reason Durango is an overpriced town, so it was great finding an affordable place to stay.

Read all the reviews, so gave them a try. First, the office was locked all the time. Finally got the attention of a grounds person who didn't speak English. They woke up the employee, who unlocked the front door for my check-in. The room was fair, but not roomy. No counter in Bathroom at all. Had to set my toiletries on toilet tank. The towels were clean, but I think they were older than I am. No ice machine anywhere to be found. But the next day is where they really failed. No maid service for room. I was gone all day on a trip. No office open so to get clean towels and coffee for next morning. (I had a 850 mile trip to make. That coffee would have pardoned everything.) I thought the place was abandoned. No TV channel guide. Ran out of toilet paper. Had to go buy some at the store. I will not ever stay here again. If I had known they were not going to service the room, I would have checked out and found somewhere else. I guess I now must ask if there will be maid service when I check in. Their $52 rate was double what it was worth. All I paid for was a bed to sleep in.

Room Tip: Stay away in their off season.

We stayed here in early October. The motel itself is older but well maintained. The owner was very pleasant and helpful in answering our questions as to where to go to eat etc. It is situated near the northern part of town but if you're there for the train ride or just to go downtown there is good transit straight down the main road. This tram is free, just takes donations. The parking stalls are a bit small and the rooms are tight. We had the kitchenette so you weren't stuck having to go get ice to keep your drinks cool. All told the place was clean, our room was quiet. The wifi worked great. I'd stay here again

Room Tip: I would go with the kitchenette, they seem to have more space

After a bad experience in a non-chain motel a few doors away two years ago we almost decided to stay in a chain motel this time but we’re so pleased we didn’t. Our first impression of the room was CLEAN ! and this impression was reinforced during the stay.

The motel doesn’t pretend to have kitchens but for short stays the little kitchenette is just right for our needs and it’s so nice not to have to use a bathroom basin for kitchen washing up. The rooms have heating and cooling and as we were there just as the overnight frost season stated it was good to be able to warm up a bit in the morning before scraping the frost off the car.

I made a point of popping in to the office before we left to say how pleased we were with everything and the owner said they’d just had a bad review about the room we had as the kitchenette was not good enough. All I can say is that if people want full self-catering kitchens and dining rooms then they should book them and pay the price……. We’ve stayed at all sorts of accommodation in various areas across the SW States now and can say this is one of the best value for money places we’ve stayed in, especially considering what a touristy area Durango is.

And, did I say ? It’s CLEAN ! We’ll certainly stay here again if we return to the area.

We stayed here for one night in October but we wish we could have stayed more! Such a cute room with great charm and it was the perfect size...not to mention a wonderful price! The motel is in a great location, as it is close to all kinds of restaurants. Next time we are in Durango, we will be staying here!

We found this by searching and digging through the internet. Glad we did. Had everything the big boys do plus the added quaint atmosphere of a family run business. No breakfast but the rates was good for the room. Would stay here again when we go through Durango.
