My family and I have stayed at Durango KOA three times over the years including Aug 2014. We have always stayed in one of the cabins ( 2 room and lodge). The value for Durango is great as hotel rooms are very expensive. The value is even better with the lodge cabins as they have many creature comforts of home as compared to most hotels and they all have great views as well. I have always found Carol and here staff to be very helpful and beyond nice! This KOA even offers linens in the cabins at a very reasonable cost so ANYONE can stay here. Will definitely be staying here again in the future.

Rented an RV in Denver for a trip to the Grand Canyon , spent 1 night here. Bathroom's and showers were clean, enjoyed the ice cream social after a long day on the road. No firepit at our site, had to make a fire in the outdoor grill. Noticed some other sites did have fire rings. Staff was helpful and easy to work with. No complaints here, would stay again.

The campground is nicely designed for easy access into and out of RV spots. A trickling stream meanders its way through the park. There are ample, secluded spots for tents. The bathroom and shower are located in private units. Be sure to take a flashlight if you decide to take a bath at night. The outside gets pretty dark! I did not take a flashlight, and I called my husband on a cell to accompany me back to the RV! I really liked that the place had dog parks: one for big dogs and another for little dogs. In the mornings a pancake breakfast is served from a caboose. Pancakes were delicious. At night, the KOA offers pizza with a variety of toppings. This KOA is located a couple of miles from Walmart, in case you forget an essential. I would definitely return to this KOA.

Our recent 9 day RV trip across the southwest took us here for 3 nights. The Durango KOA was our favorite camping spot. At the risk of sounding redundant with the other reviews, what made it terrific was the cleanliness, the amenities that are available 24 hours, great convenience store, nightly movies, pizza delivery and super-friendly people! I also enjoyed the beautiful garden that was right by the pool and showers. The only thing we did NOT enjoy was where our campsite was. #007 is right along Highway 160, so the highway noise was a little disruptive in the evening. But, that was not enough to make us think the place is bad at all.

Room Tip: Request a camp site that is away from Highway 160. If our site had been further back, our stay woul...

We wanted a place to use as base camp but wanted to be comfortable also. We chose a deluxe cabin as this would provide us basically all the comforts of home. This was my first time at a KOA and was a bit skeptical at first but upon arrival, and seeing the inside of our cabin I can say I'll be looking for KOAs more often! There is actually quite a bit of stuff to do here, especially if you have kids! We actually made time to just hang around the camp grounds to enjoy the views, check out their gardens (small vegetable and herb gardens) and take in some of the delicious food! Speaking of food, I highly suggest ordering a pizza! This was one of the best we have had in a long time, and on the plus side they delivered directly to our cabin! Pie and ice cream is also recommended! The staff is super friendly and surprisingly enough the place was really quiet at night!
As a side note, if you are looking for souvenirs, check out the store in the main building as they had a lot of stuff related to the things we did at much cheaper prices than what you could find elsewhere.
For the deluxe cabin we stayed in, this was the best, cleanest cabin I have ever stayed in!!! TV, with satellite, fridge with freezer (which had an ice tray already filled!), tub/shower, etc., etc.! There are pocket doors to both the bathroom and a separate bedroom with bunk beds.
I could go on but you get the gist! Highly recommend!!

We stayed at this KOA FOR 1 night in July 2014. We reserved a site while in the Grand Canyon knowing we would be passing through Durango the next night and wanted to make sure we had a place to camp. I would not recommend this campground to anyone who tent camps. The campground is in an urban setting right next to a 4 lane highway that is very busy with traffic. We were lulled to sleep by the sound of semi's and cars driving by. I realize your not going to get a wilderness type experience at a KOA but we were not expecting it to feel as though we were camping in highway median. We did not have that much interaction with the staff but they seemed to be friendly.

This is the best KOA we have ever stayed at in 20 years! The staff is upbeat and helpful. Fresh made, piping hot pizzas delivered right to your campsite? Yes! Fresh made pies and ice cream sundaes? Yes! Great pool, fresh herb garden to pick from, cleanest bathrooms, and a gorgeous setting on the mesa surrounded by trees. This place is now a favorite of ours and we will be back! Highly recommended to anyone traveling to or through Durango!
