My first skiing experience was here and I have enjoyed it very much! Great instructors and plenty of beautiful slopes to learn how to ski. My family members are more experienced and loved it even more! Even though it was a very busy weekend, you hardly notice it on the mountain. Beautiful surroundings, lots of snow (especially that first weekend in february)! Will surely come again!

My wife and I have been skiing at Durango Mountain every February for the past 8 years or so.
The ski area is perfect for us as it has a lot of excellent intermediate level runs, which are very well maintained. The views are great, the people are very helpful and friendly, the mountain is not crowded and lift lines are short. Lift ticket prices are reasonable and for seniors it's particularly good ($35 on "mature Monday" and $45 on Thursday). An added benefit is that the temperatures are not as frigid as most of the other Colorado ski resorts. We've skied in 20 or so resorts in Colorado, Utah, Canada and New England and prefer Durango. The view from Powderhouse restaurant halfway up the mountain is fantastic! Once you take a break there it's hard to tear yourself away to get back on the slopes! Bring a camera for at least one day.

If the weather is good spend a couple of hours driving up to Silverton. I have probably a half-dozen almost identical photos as I can't resist the perfect Christmas card picture as you descend the mountain from the south.

Food prices are not bad for a ski resort. Today a slice of pizza and a 20oz. beer was $5. A salad was $3.50. We sometimes bring a sandwich to eat in the restaurant; no one has ever said a word to us about doing that.

We generally stay in Durango as it's a pretty cool place with a lot of great restaurants and things to do in the area (egl, Mesa Verde, Durango-Silverton narrow gauge railway, etc.) It's about a 30 minute drive to DMR on an excellent road; we've never had any trouble getting there as they do a great job keeping the road open. We usually ski the week before the Durango film festival so we can catch that as well while we're here. Durango is really laid back and we love it that way!

We give the ski mountain a "5" rating as that's the way we see it for what we use. Some people might find the resort a bit quiet after dark.

We like skiing at DMR and had good snow. We stayed at the Angelhaus Condos and can not recommend it - dated old building - and dated condo room.

We had a party of 5 snow boarders for Presidents Day weekend. I expected it to be very busy. We stayed overnight in downtown Durango and visited the shops on main street before we headed up to Purgatory on Saturday afternoon. Check in time was 3pm for our Condo, so we arrived right at 3pm, checked in and went over to the Equipment rental and picked up our snowboards and boots, they allow advance pickup between 2-4pm . I had reserved everything online. There was no crowds or lines, we went right in and got fitted for the boots & picked up everything within 15 minutes. The next day Sunday, they were ready to go straight to the lifts. Everyone we came in contact with was very helpful and friendly. The food prices were very expensive. I did see some people bringing sandwiches and snacks to eat while they were lounging in the green lawn chairs at the base of the mountain. Parking was great, I parked in a lower lot and then caught the shuttle up to the skier drop off area.

Great trip.

We stayed at a "ski in/ski out" condo that was absolutely fabulous. We had three couples and had room for more in this place that even had a garage! We cooked in or walked to the shuttle to get us to the resort's bar and restaurant. The staff was amazingly friendly and everyone outdid the other in making our trip memorable.
