A trip to Durango would not be complete without a visit to Honeyville. Wonderful staff and selection. You can also taste test many things. Their Honey BBQ sauce is absolutely delicious! The kids can also observe the bees through a glass case and tubes running in and out of the building. Be sure to look for the queen bee!

A few miles out of Durango, Co is a place called Honeyville. It's a fun place to take the kids to see the bees and learn how they make honey. They have all kinds of food items Jams, jellies, bbq sauce, chocolate sauce, and wines. Then there's the soaps, lotions and other trinkets. It's small store but be prepared to spend a whole lot of money.

The staff on our visit were extremely friendly. If we wanted to see how a product tasted, the staff let us have a sample. Like I always say, anything's better with honey! :) It smelled soo good in there. I wanted to buy everything! We ended up with Honeyyaki (honey terriyaki sauce), some whipped honey, a 100-pack of clover honey for my daughter (she's a sucker for the stuff), and a stuffed bumblebee for her too.

Our hotel had a brochure for a free pack of honey sticks. We thought it was going to be a pack of four with no choice between flavored and clover, but no! It was a good 8-pack, and you did have a choice. Our daughter walked out of the place with a total of 108 clover honey sticks. Gosh.
It's really great, for little kids as well as bigger kids, and adults as well as seniors! The little kids might find it great because of the hive view where you can see the bees making honey, as well as the view of the factory where they package honey, the sweet smell and appetizing flavors of honey, and the cute plushes and toys which even my teen daughter fell for. For everyone else, they'll love the place because of one simple thing: Honey! Who doesn't love it?!

I recommend this place for EVERYONE!! It's awesome!!

We like stopping at Honeyville when we go up to Silverton. Their Honey Caramel is excellent, especially over vanilla ice cream. We've enjoyed their whipped honey and regular honey as well. Our kids like getting honey sticks and looking at the bees in the store too. I thought their Honey Bourbon was a lot rougher than other honey whiskeys I've had, but it was still ok.

Sweet place to visit while in the Durango area. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Not only do they carry local honey they carry many honey based products. Your little ones may also enjoy watching the bees buzz around in their glass bee display :)
