We've lived in Durango now 10 years and have gone to Mama's Boy for dinner a few times. It always seems to disappoint a bit. It seems overpriced, service is just o.k., food is o.k. to good We usually use the north location for pizza and calzones to go, which seems a better value somehow. We we crave italian food, our preference is Guido's (GREAT food, atmosphere is more like a nice italian market), then Mutu's, both of which we think are better overall than Mama's Boy.

The meal was great: the pizza was real tasty and the portions were huge. But the waitress didn't make us feel at ease at all and the atmosphere was rather down.

It seems like Mama's Boy was advertised in every tourist magazine we read in Durango, so our expectations were pretty high. We were looking for a casual Italian restaurant with your basic, good Italian food -- nothing fancy.

Unfortunately, our meal started with service that was s-l-o-w. Our waitress-to-be walked back and forth past our table for a good 15 mins. before she came to take a drink order from us.

Our appetizer was mediocre (calamari). As this arrived, I noticed that the lady at the next table sent her lasagna back immediately to be re-heated. Not a good sign. My eggplant dish came, and I was too tired of waiting by this point to send it back to be re-heated, as it was cold, too. My husband liked the pizza, but we both agreed that it needed much more sauce (we weren't even sure there was any on it). It was too thick to be considered NY style, but still pretty good.

Maybe it was an 'off' night for the place, but one would hope they'd be prepared for a busy weekend night. While quite anticipated, we won't be going back next time we're in Durango.

Dined here recently. It's so-so Italian food at best. The portions are large, so for families looking to feed their children and who aren't fussy about their Italian food this is an OK place to eat. Many tables were getting the pizza which looked rather thick crusted. I had the spaghetti and sausage which just didn't have the spiciness and taste that one would find at a finer Italian restaurant. If you're looking for better quality Italian food in Durango, try Mutu's or Adriano's.

We had the pleasure of dining here a few weeks ago, the staff was thoughtful and attentive, the food was very good. Overall very nice.
I would highly recommend this place.
