We spent 4 nights here in June. The units are very complete, but small compared to other timeshares that we visit. They are well decorated.
This is a very nice small resort.

There is a very small indoor pool at the Best Western across the street. We could not use it since it was taken over by very small misbehaved
children.

The location is great. One can walk to all the main tourist shops and restaurants. The train is about a five minute walk.

Staff was very friendly, and the property is very well ,maintained.

Room Tip: Try to get a unit on the end since noise comes into the rooms easily from the units on each side.

Spent 4 nights on our way to the Denver area. The resort is small, no activities (maybe seasonal), but we were there to see area. The resort is near town for walking. Close to the Durango-Silverton Rail and many restaurants. The rooms are very clean, small (ours was pie shape with king bed) with space well used to have a dining table, couch, and kitchen area. Liked the open shelves under the Tv for storing cameras, ipods, and extra snacks. Two hottubs on the 4th floor and were in use form 4 to 9 pm. Staff small so very friendly. Quiet.

Well furnished unit with probably expensive furniture and accents, however I believe if the decorators had to spend a week here they would rearrange in a more efficient layout. The bed is beautiful, but has a large footboard which is constantly obstructing travel due to close proximity with the TV armoire. It is really a hotel room with a kitchen. The staff is fantastic. Washers and dryers are free and wash powders are provided. Nice exercise room next to W/D so you can work out while doing laundry. I loved the roof hot tub. Excellent jets for massage and great view of mountains. Great location for train and restaurants.
We had dinner at the Palace and ordered St Louis ribs, sharing one entree. For 5 extra dollars you get everything doubled except the ribs which were very good and very meaty. We even took some back to our room. I honestly believe that an efficiency expert could turn this timeshare into a 5 rating.

Room Tip: We had an end room on the 4th floor. It has a window to the mountains. I believe all inside rooms...

After seeing the feedback on this hotel, and having stayed there 3 times, I decided I needed to write a review.

1. Great Location: Unless you are actually staying downtown, then there really isn't a better location than this. 2nd Ave is approximately 2 blocks from the train station and a 7 minute walk to the middle of downtown. The only closer property would be the Best Western which is across the street from the Wyndham.

2. The staff at this hotel might just be the friendliest hotel staff known to Wyndham. They have received many awards for just that. They are super polite at check-in and help you with anything you need to know. They have everything you would need from air fresheners to deodorant. They remember you and say hi every time you come and go.

3. The rooms, despite the pics from Wyndham, have all been recently renovated. New furniture, couches, appliances, etc. I have read several reviews saying the rooms are tight. They are not tight. The room is a 1br suite. It is meant to accommodate 4 people. There is a King size bed in an actual separate room with a spacious balcony. There is a bathroom with a jetted tub, a vanity space, a coffee table, couch (pull out bed), dining table, dishwasher, microwave, full size fridge and freezer. They only have 1br suite rooms and they are all alike. If you are planning to fit 6 people in a 1 br room and are expecting it to be spacious, plan to be disappointed.

I try not to leave long reviews, but it seems people have been booking this hotel and expecting something that has not been offered or advertised. This hotel is perfect if you are 1) wanting something close to down-town 2) have 2-4 people in the group . We often go and book more than 1 room. I hope this will sway you to give this Wyndham a chance, they have definitely earned it and you won't be disappointed. Did I mention they have 2 6-person outside hot tubs on the 3rd floor with incredible views of the snow capped mountains? Enjoy!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 4th floor are a bit nicer (more tile than carpet) and you have no one above you (no noi...

The Wyndham Durango is a hotel that was converted into a time share resort. The building and common areas are beautiful. The one bedroom unit we were in was very small and cramped. It would be fine if you are traveling lite to do backpacking or mountain biking but we were on an extended tour with more luggage and it was uncomfortable. However, the bed was very comfortable and we didn't spend much time in the unit anyway.

You are an easy walk away from too many restaurants to count. One to mention for sure is right out the back door of the Wyndham and a short walk across the parking lot: TJ's Cajun BBQ. Oh my! Go there! The pulled pork was excellent. The batter-dipped and fried corn-on-the-cob was excellent. It isn't an expensive or fancy place but the food and service were excellent.

Also right out the back door of the Wyndham is the Durango-Silverton narrow gauge RR station. Take the day trip up to Silverton and back. The scenery is amazing and beautiful as you climb into the high country. We went when the Aspen trees were in high color and it was gorgeous. There are lots of interesting places to eat in Silverton and it is a fascinating old mountain mining town, complete with gravel and dirt streets and wooden sidewalks. The town isn't fancied-up for tourists but there is a lot of artwork and jewelry there, if you are interested. But the scenery on the trip is unbelievable!

Room Tip: I don't know if they have units larger than one bedroom but, if they do, it would be worth it to...

The location is terrific! The staff was very nice and accompdating but, because of the small size of this resort, they are only there between 0800 and 2100. A little odd if you check in at 2200 and no one is there. As others have said, the rooms are small but, unless you are there to sit in the room, it is totally adequate for two people, maybe three.
