We split a New York strip steak and two sides and emerged quite satisfied. The sides are remarkable for taste and ingenuity. The meat was perfect.

Small place; cozy, 1880's-themed atmosphere. Very nice selection of aged steaks, but here's the rub--meals are a la carte. A $40 steak on a white plate is all you get if you don't order sides for an additional charge. If you're the type that can really enjoy an aged steak and you're willing to pay for it, then you won't find the like anywhere else in Durango that I know of. If that's not your thing then the Ore House will probably seem high on price and short on value.

Return visit and the food and service were still good. Ore House will cook your steak how you want it. Although the sides are still a la carte, the size has been scaled down to a more normal portion (the prices have not been down sized). Overall, still worth the visit to get a great steak in a relaxed atmosphere.

BEST meal (by far) that we had in Durango......and that's saying something!! With around 150 restaurants in this tiny geographic space, you don't survive without being good---this is a Mecca for foodies....but I digress.
This place is phenomenal. Just off the main drag, it's not loud & bustling with passersby. The menu is extensive enough to offer great variety without being overwhelming. The salmon I had was prepared PERFECTLY, and the greens that accompanied it were dressed as if each leaf of spinach had been individually "painted" with JUST the right amount of vinaigrette. (ahhhhh)
WHATEVER you choose to do while in Durango, AT LEAST go to Ore House and have a cocktail or glass of wine at the bar with Master Mixologist, Bridgette! This little spitfire of a bartender has more fascinating knowledge of wine and spirits than a French sommelier & a team of seasoned distillers. She will entertain you (not-in-a-Tom-Cruise-Cocktail-the-movie kinda way) and fascinate you with the sheer DEPTH of knowledge about your beverage choice and also makes some killer recommendations. If I owned Ore House, I'd give this girl a WHOPPING raise!!!
Go enjoy the steaks and seafood, but you're truly shortchanging yourself if you don't enjoy at least one drink at the bar.

A large party often causes problems for a restaurant but not the Ore House. All the food arrived quickly, tremendously hot and very tasty. Well worth a visit.
