Best Western Durango Inn & Suites

We stayed here for one night while taking the family on the Polar express nearby. The staff was really nice and the rooms were above average for the class of hotel. The location was perfect for the train station and for historic downtown. The room was clean when we asked for connecting rooms we got them.

Two small issues, the rooms were cold when we first checked in, took a little time to heat up. And clearly they have a lot of families stay on the weekends and while the breakfast offered is good, the area where you eat is cramped with lots of families.

But neither of those two issues would stop us from staying there.

We didn't have a reservation when we arrived to pick up our train tickets. For those we definitely had a reservaton. Someone at the depot said they only recommended the Best Western...probably because it's within walking distance of the depot, whicih has an early departure time.

The Best Western had free happy hour and breakfast as well as refrig and microwave in the room. Comfortable bed. Clean
facilities. Nice staff. Certainly would return if we planned to ride the train again.

We loved our stay, The hotel was very clean, carpets looked new. The beds were very comfortable the suite was a 2 bedroom and a sitting/TV room. I would highly recommend this property, and this type of suite.
Very friendly staff, everyone was real nice, In fact when we checked out I made a point of thanking Linda for her help making our reservation, and they kinda laughed like it was no big deal, which it shouldn't be but sadly half the calls I made to different hotels were less that a positive response to helping.
The continental breakfast had a good variety of food. and it was just right to get us on our way to the train, and there is a very good restaurant connected to the hotel, I had a great steak and others in our party had a very good hamburger, salad bar was good too
Sofa bed in sitting room was a little uncomfortable to sit on, but its about the only thing I could say slightly negative about the room
I liked the fact that is was outside of town and train area (less that a mile),
it was very easy to find parking on the streets or in a paid lot (but wasn't real busy when we were there)
We didn't use the pool or jac, but I saw that the pool was heated,
Yes I would stay here again

The staff at the hotel was stellar!

We got into town after most restaurants closed (including the one on site). The ladies at the front desk recommended the best pizza restaurant in town. Unfortunately they don't deliver and we couldn't drive. We were towing a trailer and wouldn't have a place to park when we got back because the hotel was filled to capacity.

One of the ladies at the front offered to pick up the pizza for us and refused to accept our offering of gas money when she delivered it directly to our room. Now that's service!!

We were traveling with our 1 year old. This is the first hotel that we stayed in that even offered sheets for the large pack n play they had.

The room was extremely comfortable, clean, large and quiet. We had a great nights rest and were ready to finish our road trip home the next day. For the price, it was excellent!

Once we checked in and went into our room the first thing we noticed is that the room is very dark. We booked a family size suite and there were lamps, but it was very dark. Also there was an aroma that can best be explained as the smell of a heavy duty cleaner of some sort. The smell was strong, very chemical like. We assume they had to clean up something. Luckily it was only in the sitting area. The bedrooms were better. As for the location it is just outside of town. If you want to walk around the town, you can't do that from this location, you must drive into town and park. The bedroom areas were average with decent beds. The bathroom is small for a two bedroom unit. Our room window was not far from the hot tub area outside and we were able to hear people out there real late into the night/morning hours. It was a bit difficult to sleep with that outside your window. The real problem was in the morning. We woke up to no hot water. Not one little bit. And the shower/tub drain did not drain at all. The staff didn't know why and did their best to help us by giving us a key to an empty room down the hall so we could use that shower. That room did have hot water, but running between rooms (all 5 of us) was a bit frustrating. If you're in the area I would recommend checking other places first. We checked out after just one night because we were told they didn't think there was anything they could do about no hot water in our room.

We stayed in a one-bedroom suite. The room was not as clean as I would have liked it to be. It was not filthy by any means, but not as clean as it should have been.

The beds were average to good. The shower was good. The location is inferior to other properties better located within downtown Durango.

I would not stay there again. There are hotels that are better located within the "downtown" area of Durango.

Older style hotel about as clean as you would expect during winter skiing season. We were happy to sleep there since there were few rooms available, but I would opt for a newer facility if I had the time to plan.
