Our family drove to Durango from New Mexico. The Hotel setting was outstanding, right on the Animas river with walking trails, numerous restaurants and shops within walking distance. The room was very clean, plush towels and beds were very comfortable--when not in your own. The Staff was personable, pleasant and helpful. The lobby has a beautiful, warm atmosphere. We most certainly would stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Get a river view on lower level for easy access to trail.

My wife and I enjoyed staying at this Durango hotel. Very clean and very quiet. We had booked the cheaper "city view" side, and when we arrived, I thought the traffic noise from the busy street out front might bother me. But the room was quiet as well as comfortable. We were traveling with our small dog and it was a pleasure to walk her on the back side of the hotel on the Animas River trail. And the historic downtown and RR are within walking distance. Durango has a great downtown with lots of shops and restaurants!

The room was clean and comfortable and the ambience of the hotel, with its oak trim and doors, very welcoming. It's great for families because you are a short walk from the Historic Downtown, you can walk out the back door right onto the paved trail along the river. Once on the trail, turn left and you will soon arrive at a well-appointed park with plenty of stuff for children to play on; turn right, and you will soon be at the museum.

The breakfast buffet is one of the best, and most well-stocked and appointed I have ever had. I had an omelet made for me while I waited and it was superb! I live on a farm, they claim their eggs are farm fresh, and I can tell you: they are!

There's an Alberton's next door to shop at if you want to save money and have some snacks on hand -- there are no refridgerators in the room, but they will bring one up to you free of charge if you ask.

The only negative is that my door key stopped working. The woman at the desk accused me of holding it next to my phone. We hired a nanny for my child (I was here on business) and HER key didn't work. They had just given it to her and she held it in her hand the whole way to the room. We went back downstairs and the woman at the desk accused her, too, of holding is next to her phone. I explained that was not possible and she actually argued with me about it. It wasn't enough to affect my evaluation of the hotel, but it was a negative I could have done without. That said, I will be back and I would recommend this as an excellent hotel for families.

Just enjoyed a three day visit to Durango. Check in was smooth and the clerk personable. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, the warm cookie was so welcomed after the long drive from Utah. No unpleasant finds. Wolfgang puck coffee and tea was nice. Towels were plush and absorbant with no frayed ends. Bedding was clean and warm. Pillows were medium soft and also comfortable. View of the river below was pleasant. Room was very quiet and peaceful. Checkout was a breeze. There were no problems, glitches, snags, or static the whole time we were here. The room was cleaned well each day and the Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries restocked when needed. Heater vent was easily directed away from the bed which was the only minor annoyance. We will definitely stay again.

Everything was perfect and every one on staff were great.
The only physical problem with the room was that the heat did not seem to turn on or turn off at exact temperatures but I told the front desk.
So during the night we got cold by about 5° and then it would get pretty warm.
But we would stay here again anytime.

Nice full service hotel right on the river in town. Spacious rooms. We requested a mini fridge and it was delivered promptly. Comfy beds and quiet room. Rooms on the river side worth the upgrade. Restaurant serves a full breakfast buffet or cooked to order food. Indoor pool and hot tub.

Clean rooms, polite staff and great view of the river. Did not eat at restaurant. Walking distance to shops and events in downtown Durango, but, away from the noise of Main Street.

The place was booked full, but was still quiet.

I want to go back.
