“A walk for the views and full exposure”

Coyote Ridge Natural Area
Reviewed 30 July 2014

A nice walk on well maitained trails. Offers views on both sides. The views of the of city for Fort Collins are worth the trip. This trail offers full exposure to the sun so bring your sunscreen and your water bottle. It can also be very windy.

Very nice hike -- especially, the trail on the ridge along the mountain offers great views down each slope. Flat grasslands with an alpaca farm on one side and the panorama of Fort Collins on the other. Summer wildflowers were beautiful too!

Visit to Coyote Ridge for a leisurely hike. The trail is well maintained with opportunities for late fall/early winter viewing. Most of the wildlife this time of year are laying low against the colder breezes coming off the mountain, but we saw prairie dogs and a good sized group of mule deer while we visited. Along the trail there are accurate and informative displays for individuals not knowledgeable about Colorado wildlife as well as a "nature center type" building for longer talks held by FC area naturalists (seasonal only). Once you've hiked to the edge of the open space area, you connect with trails to the north and south along the main hogback. Looking back, a great view of the plains, Fort Collins, Loveland and various reservoirs is a refreshing reminder of a good hike.

This i a part of the excellent trail system located in and around Larimer County/Ft.Collins. This is a moderate to difficult ride/hike depending on your health/abilities. Great view on top. You can see multiple wildlife if you pay attention. Winter is an excellent time to see a different landscape.

The area has a nice trail system for hiking, running, or mountain biking. The climb up to the ridge is a good workout. Prarie dogs are easily viewed as well as rabbits. Good place for a workout or leisurely walk.
