At the end of a great holiday around Wyoming we made the one mistake of our holiday which was to stay in Estes Park. I'll resist going on about that here though.
Desperate to end our holiday on a high we turned to trip advisor. The Hotel and town that seemed to fit the bill were Hotel Frisco and Frisco itself, both scoring high here. Luckily at no notice we managed to book a two bed room suite and fled Estes to Frisco.
What can we say about the hotel? Well first the staff were simply wonderful, very friendly, very helpful, and really welcoming. Second the hotel itself is absolutely lovely, incredibly homely, compfortable, wonderfully clean, and brilliantly positioned in the middle of this quiet and lovely town. The rooms were excellent, the views of the mountains great, and all you could want for in a smart friendly and affordable hotel.
As for Frisco itself there are a number of great places to eat at night and for breakfast. We had a great meal at Tuscatos an Italian resteraunt right over from the hotel, again massively friendly as well as massive portions, and really nice food. Breakast or lunch at Butterhorn Bakery is great value and excellent food as well - the best sandwich we had all the time we have been in the states.
Hotel Frisco is quite simply excellent.

Spent three nights and wil definitely return. Comfortable, well-maintained rooms with a very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Hotel is well located for activities and dining in Frisco and surrounding area.

We recently stayed at the Frisco Hotel and cannot say enough about the staff, location and quality of the room. There simply aren't alot of great hotel options in the Frisco area unless you love chains like BW or HI. If you enjoy personalized service and the comfort of a clean room with a wonderful bed, you need not look further than the Frisco hotel unless they are booked. Staff members, Chrissy and Lisa, need to be personally recognized for their above and beyond help to ensure a wonderful stay.

We spent 3 nights here in June, rather spur-of-the-moment (less than a week prior to arrival). When we initially called for a room they were already booked, but at our request they cheerfully took our name for any cancellations and did indeed call us when a cancellation occurred. Each time on the phone the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, as well as during our entire stay there. The hotel itself is in a great location approx. in the middle of Frisco's Main Street, and is lovely from the outside, with a small, but nice courtyard right in front. It is a short walk to beautiful Dillon Reservoir, where there are hiking/biking trails, shuttle boat service to cross the lake to Dillon, etc., and bike rentals are as close as the next block from the hotel. One block the other direction from the hotel is a great breakfast restaurant, The Butterhorn. The hotel room itself was adequate, but definitely needs some updating. The good aspects: Very comfortable beds, pillows (extra pillows there, too!), linens, a good shower head that provides more than just a trickle of water, great lighting in the bathroom. There is no A/C, however, they do provide a tower fan in the room which was extremely efficient and the room was very comfortable at all times during our stay with the windows open, however, there are no screens in the windows. The hotel and area was very quiet during our stay. The "needs improvement" aspects: though the room in general was adequately clean, it felt less than clean for the following reasons: the rug was old, worn, stained. The "best" of two chairs in the room had legs that, when we arrived, we had to straighten, as they were tilted as if they were broken/loose where they connected to the chair. The blinds were old and damaged, though functional. The very basic, rustic, worn furniture was missing knobs, the triple switchplate in the bathroom by the sink had extensive, large chipped areas, which made the sink area seem dirty, though the vanity area/bathroom itself was clean. The hotel is dog friendly, which is great for those of us who are dog lovers, but may not be for those who prefer dog-free lodging. Overall, this could be a terrific hotel if only they would update the furniture, rugs, window blinds (and add screens). Although we enjoyed our stay here in general, we would most likely not stay again unless we determined that the rooms had been updated, though would still recommend it with this qualifier, i.e. updating rooms.

We ended a disastrous stay in Estes Park with a last night in Frisco. We hadn't been here in a few years and loved every aspect of this lovely quaint mountain hotel, right on the main street in Frisco, Colorado. We tried a different room, and had a jacuzzi, and a little private garden right outside the room. We were right off the lobby which made getting coffee in the morning very easy (quiet, charming and friendly lobby). Wonderful to walk to an amazing gourmet restaurant, Vinny's, for dinner, shopping just down the street, including The Next Page bookstore and a wonderful coffee shop, and then breakfast at our beloved Butterhorn a block away the next morning. This will be our destination next year for our Colorado trip. We discovered hiking trails and plenty of the history we love right outside out door.
