I agree with what others have said about this hotel in that its a great location, no complaints about the food, etc. -- but the hotel rooms seem more shabby than stately and historic. No a/c, updates to plumbing were done fairly cheaply so the bathrooms are more like a motel 6 than a 3 star hotel's. You can hear EVERYTHING happening in the hallway outside your room. AND, the vent for the bathrooms exits into the hallway so when you're doing your business, it's the business of everyone who happens to be in the hallway!

Come to visit, have a drink and snack at their absolutely lovely outdoor café and garden -- it was our favorite place to eat in Glenwood Springs. Stay somewhere else however if you expect more than a 2 star hotel.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy that you enjoyed all our great food offerings in the Courtyard of the Hotel. As you can imagine they did not build the bathrooms in 1893 as they do in today's world. Retrofitting this in a building that is on the historic register can sometimes be a challenge but we are always looking to improve.

In its heyday the hotel has clearly been her grand and classy. It is now a little dated and in need of restoration. Some of the features (the tiling of the bathroom for instance) are lovely but others (such as the dangling pipes and dusty curtains) are not! There were holes in the screen on the window and only a light and table at one side of the bed in a room designed for two. The towels were threadbare and literally raggy at the edges. This place is definitely not worth the money they charge!

The toilet was blocked when we arrived when we arrived. We flushed one tissue and it immediately backed up. We called down to reception and someone came right up with a plunger. They were very polite but seemed totally unsurprised that the plumbing wasn't working! This made me think that the blocking is a regular occurrence.

The courtyard bar with its fairy lights looked beautiful but last orders was called at ten and while we were still drinking our drinks the staff turned off the fairy lights and left us sitting in the dark. We were especially surprised that they closed so early as there were many customers in the bar area watching a sports games on tv.

Booked a room by internet from Belgium and we were happily surprised by this good hotel. Food and drinks are abundant available. It's a hotel which attracts a lot of outdoor sporters and cyclists. Wifi was OK and even the pc in the lobby was fast and easy to operate, though it was a MAC, which we were not aquainted with. Personnel was very helpful and the breakfast was great.

Whenever we go to Glenwood we stay at the Hotel Colorado. It is right downtown so location is great. The dinner menu is also good. They are pet friendly which is so nice for our dog. It is a old hotel so no a/c but I think the charm makes up for it.

This hotel was exactly as billed. A beautiful, historic, elegant building with cheerful service. Very close to the hot springs. Garden cafe was a great place for a drink and the menu looked interesting. The lobby was a wonderful place to just hang out, with elegant old furniture and lots of comfortable places to sit. Our room was a bit small. Bedding was nice but mattresses were very, very soft. There is no air conditioning in the rooms though there are fans. The whole place is showing its age. A fun experience but be prepared.

Hotel Colorado is in a terrific location in Glenwood Springs, located right across from the hot springs pool and within walking distance of neighborhood eateries, etc...we have stayed in this hotel throughout the years growing up when we come to the hot springs and it is our favorite place.

The rooms are old and have no a/c but are so full of character that we love it. The super wide hallways with seemingly lower ceilings makes the place seem like you would see ghosts wandering around, which is why I think the place has so much charm in that kind of way! The last time we stayed in a family room which had 2 rooms sharing a middle bathroom...plenty of towels, hot water, nice and clean...plus, they allow dogs so what more could you ask for?

Free parking around the hotel, great restaurants inside and out on the porch, newer (at least from 20 yrs ago) coffee shop with fun stuff to buy to eat...and a terrific staff every time we have stayed there! We have only had the breakfast in the inside restaurant but it was very tasty....and the hotel is always offering different specials and packages, so definitely check those out...the lower level of the hotel has things like rafting companies and things like that...we didn't check it out the last time we were there so not really sure...

I highly recommend staying here at least once...maybe it doesn't have all the fancy things like a microwave and fridge and the heaters are those old radiator type units...we were only there in the evenings and were running around at the pool and other places during the day anyway!

We had a mixed experience. The place was very clean, the room especially with comfortable beds and high quality linens and towels; and the staff were welcoming. But we were here in August and it was hot, and the grand old place has no AC! Sure you can open the windows but to noise and fumes from the kitchens. Then there is only one elevator in the whole hotel, so with luggage you can wait ages, a real 10 minutes! No doubt this was once a fine, luxury hotel but the owners obviously have done little to update it since 1930.

Room Tip: If you go in summer, try for a room at the side, to avoid kitchen fumes or the highway and water par...
