“High upon a Hill there Lies Doc Holiday!”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

As the saying goes there are several ways to get something done! Well I choose the wrong way to hike up to the cemetery. Be sure to ask the locals for an 'easy' walking route to doc Holiday's grave. The views alone the 'hard' way up are worth the views.

Say Hello to Doc...And spent a few moments reflecting upon our fragile lives.......
Enjoy our family and friends every day!

“Great old cemetery”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

The hike is a steep half mile, but they have benches to rest on with great views of Glenwood Springs. there isn't any shade on this hike so bring water. when you get to the cemetery, which is on your left, continue up the steps and you will find signs to Doc Holiday and Kid Curry's grave. even though Doc is not buried where they say he is, he is buried up there somewhere. I heard stories that he is buried under a cement slab that is not marked. The cemetery is great to wander through and look at all the old dates and it has great views. to get there go up to 13th street and go left and follow the signs.

“Neat history”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

We hiked the 1/2 mile to the cemetery and walked around for about 20-25 mins. Neat to see all the headstones. Next time we'll have to take the actual guided tour.

“Simple, but great hike, great views of Glenwood Springs”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

A great hike to do if you in Glenwood, really simple and a nice pay off in the views of the valley and the cemetery is interesting and of course the main attraction is Doc Holiday's memorial. Make sure to go with tradition and bring Doc Holiday a drink and some coins.

If your visiting from a lower elevation, especially sea level, this is a good first hike at a high altitude as it is moderately steep, but with plenty of rest spots to take in the canyon's views. If you are deciding to walk there from downtown take Grande Ave. and be careful to spot the trail in between 11th and 13th street that will lead you up to the trail head which is located 2 streets up from Grande on 12th street.

“Great once you make it up the hike.”
Reviewed 12 July 2013

This is a very steep 1/2 mile hike. Maybe because it was June around 5 PM when we took it but we felt every step. LOL Eleven year old kept saying when will this nightmare be over. As others suggested BRING WATER especially if you have kids. Both my daughters are in great physical shape, but it wasn't an easy hike for them. Nice little cemetery to explore once you get there.
