Owner description: Burial place of gangster, gambler and dentist, Doc Holiday.

I have wanted to visit the cemetery for several years now and finally got a chance. It is an easy 1.5 mile walk from the Hot Springs Lodge. You do have to walk through a residential neighborhood to get to the trailhead. It is a steep walk up a hillside that meanders to the top so prepare to huff and puff a bit. It doesn't last long. Along the way, it appears that there is a wishing tree upon which people have put poems and/or strips of cloth. Interesting. The cemetery itself takes you back in time. Doc Holliday's tombstone is to the left, but he himself may be buried anywhere there. When I got there, it seemed that someone had placed a cigarette and a beer bottle cap for Doc. As for the disheveled look of the grounds, it seems that the community is having a cleanup/work day to benefit the cemetery the weekend of June 7th, 2014. Unfortunately, we would have to miss it. If you love history and the past, it is well worth the hike.

We enjoy history so my husband wanted to go because of Doc Holiday. It is a hike up hill and I would wear good shoes. It was interesting and yes it is not well maintained but what really old Cemetery is ??? On the path is a tree that is covered with ribbons. We weren't sure what it was but read one of the notes and it is a wishing tree with the ribbons blowing in the wind...interesting and wished I had some ribbon to add to it. Signs have lots of notes of history.

The cemetery is located up a mountain in the middle of a neighborhood you have to find parking in this residential area. The cemetery doesn't appear to be maintained by anyone and is overgrown with brush and looks disheveled. Too bad.

I love old cemeteries and this is a great one. Just a short hike up the hill to the old cemetery where Doc Holliday's grave marker is. There are a lot of grave markers for soldiers who fought in the Civil War, the sections are separated by different social and ethnic sections and a lot of the grave markers are in among the trees and shrubs. Very interesting history and just a cool place to visit, even though Doc Holliday is not ACTUALLY buried there. Cool all the same.

A visit here is slightly thought provoking, so sad seeing all the grave headstones of early settlers who died so young, many so far from home. The graveyard is a little overgrown, but I think it adds to the experience.

Walk up gives great views of the city.
