“Girl Scouts getaway enhanced by perfect lodging. 6 teens shared 2-bedroom suite, 2 adults in studio”
Reviewed 9 December 2013

Our Girl Scouts getaway was enhanced by perfect lodging at the Residence Inn in Glenwood Springs on a very cold weekend in December 2013. Six teens shared a 2-bedroom suite and 2 adults shared a studio on the 4th floor. Views are good from either side of the hotel. Décor throughout the hotel was inviting.
Barbara Jean was helpful with our reservations and was genuine and cheerful every time we re-connected throughout the weekend! Everyone on the staff was busy, yet immediately responsive and friendly. Everything was clean. Bathrooms were spotless. Kitchen counters, stovetop, oven (not avail. in studio), microwave, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, place settings (for 4 in studio, 6 in suite), cooking utensils, and pots also appeared as clean as they could get. When we couldn't find a cookie sheet in the room, we borrowed one from the front desk. The nice fella (I'm sorry I don't know your name) had it ready for us, already covered in aluminum foil - to make the clean up so easy.
The American-style breakfast buffet was plentiful, tasty, and reasonably fresh. I appreciated the more healthy options while the girls loved having the waffles with a variety of toppings. I loved all the seating options around the lobby area. Again, everything was clean. I would suggest providing a sink area for guests to get water to drink and to drain liquids from trash before throwing it away. Also, it would be nice if you could avoid styrofoam and promote recycling (in the lobby and in the suites).
The pool/hot tub room and workout room were spacious, clean, and bright, and open long hours (pool 'til 11, workout room 24/7). (So glad that one of our adult chaperones is a certified life guard.) We used them Friday night after our 3+ hour drive from Denver. When we had spent early Saturday afternoon at the Hot Springs Pool, we got our hands stamped so we could return after dinner. However, the girls all preferred to swim at the hotel pool Saturday night. On Sunday, since our checkout was not until noon, we were able to get another swim in at the hotel pool. There was plenty of seating around the pool with enough distance to avoid splashing. The outdoor patio looked lovely, but with 1 foot of snow and high temperatures in the single digits, we did not spend time outside. One of our girls took advantage of the patio near the pool, though. She braved sitting in a chair full of snow before jumping back into the pool. Fun!
We highly recommend this Residence Inn for winter “camping” when temperatures make indoor cooking necessary and indoor swimming preferable to hiking.
Thank you, Jason. Please share our appreciation with everyone on your staff.

Room Tip: North side of hotel looks toward Colorado River. Both sides of hotel have nice views of hills around...

With our only child living in Denver, and we are in Las Vegas, rather than one half of us enduring the holiday air travel, we decided to meet "halfway" (ok, she definitely got the shorter end of that half easy mark!) We found this Residence Inn through the Marriott.com site. From the moment we arrived on the Tuesday before Turkey Day until or departure on the following Sunday, we all felt very comfortable. Since there were 4 adults and 2 small dogs, we rented the 2-bedroom site, with 2 baths and a full kitchen. It wad the first tome we had ever cooked an entire Thanksgiving meal in a hotel room, but it was fun! The front desk staff, especially BARBARA JEAN, made sure we had everything we needed, and the kitchen was almost complete enough for our feast! (the Target store about 1 block away was handy for the disposable foil baking pan for the turkey!) Speaking of shopping and convenience, the beautiful Meadows shopping area is literally across the street, and had everything from the aforementioned Target to Bed Bath and Beyond, Pier One, Lowes, and many restaurants, salons, etc. While the hotel is not located in a downtown Glenwood Springs, it is only a 5 minute drive, or there are plenty of local buses! We thoroughly enjoyed being so close to the famous Hot Springs, the gondola at the Adventure Park and many hiking trails. There is agull hot breakfast every morning with swide variety of breakfast fare, and on weeknights, there are "light" dinners- which were full ones for us! (there were even complimentary beers!) Excellent indoor heated pool, laundry facilities and workout room-can we just move in please? We will definitely be back!

Great place to stay! The check in was smooth and the staff was very friendly. Room was/is clean and quiet. The air conditioning unit being able to run on fan only is great for those that need white noise to sleep. The pool is large enough and having the Marriott next door means one can walk 15 yards to get lunch or dinner if you are so inclined. Only draw back is the elevators are a little slow and parking does full up as they share with the Marriott. Other than that, I will return! Really good.

They had government rates that were a huge savings. Perfect room with comfy bed and nice eating/sitting area. After a long day of travel this was truly a nice place to unwind. Out side of the main drag but really a short drive to food, shopping and sites.

What a pleasure to stay in one of the new style Residence Inns. The old Residence Inns have such a dark and gloomy decor, but not here. It's bright and colorful and feels like a whole new place. We stayed three nights, and enjoyed hanging out as a family at the hotel almost as much as exploring Glenwood Springs.

Pros:
8 minute drive to the Hot Springs.
bright new colorful decor
good hot breakfast every morning complete with scrambled eggs
very friendly staff
nice indoor pool and hot tube
community center with play pool across the street
next to shopping area with Target, and several restaurants

Cons:
Bed was a bit harder than most Marriotts

Room Tip: go for the one bedroom suite.

We sprang for a corner suite on the top floor, and it was well worth it. The view in two directions let us watch the light change over the hills and the confluence of the rivers (and in the far distance we could see Doc Holliday's memorial, once we had walked up there and knew where to look). The king bed was very comfortable, as was the furniture in the sitting room, and there were lots of extra pillows. The bathroom was large and well lit, and the kitchen well equipped. The entire suite was immaculate (thank you housekeeping and management!). There are several casual restaurants adjacent to the Marriott, and also a small grocery and a Target. My husband was very happy with the exercise room, especially the elliptical.

It is also a great location for walking into town and beyond and leaving the car parked. There is a path that begins just past the community center (behind the Marriott), goes under the road and along the river into town. You can also continue walking along the river.

The breakfast options were more than adequate, and on Tuesday-Thursday light suppers are served (also complimentary), along with beer and soft drinks. There is a pleasant outdoor sitting area, weather permitting.

Room Tip: Go for a suite on a higher floor.

I traveled with a friend of mine last weekend to Glenwood for a conference. We stayed at the Residence Inn in a studio with a King Bed. The decor was beautiful and well appointed! There were added touches like a shelf in the bathroom, and cubbies for bath towels! The kitchen was fully equipped, and the dining table was perfect for two or three! The floor plan of our room was great because the living part was separated from the bedroom and bathroom by design. It was very quiet in our corner room. My only complaint was that they forgot to send up extra towels at our first request. The heater/air conditioner was not working when we arrived, but it was taken care of very quickly! It is such a beautiful hotel, and the breakfast was nothing short of amazing! Loved the outdoor fire pit!

Room Tip: Our corner room was wonderful! So quiet and big! I always get the top floor.
