“Still a great value after 20 plus years”
Reviewed 15 September 2009

This is a great, old-style motor inn. The place is still clean, spacious, and one of the best prices in town. We always stay at the Red Mountain Inn in Glenwood Springs as a family favourite whether we are in a small group in one of the two bed "motel" style rooms or in one of the cabins which suit up to 8 people. There are some units with great kitchens, little living rooms, etc. - even the smaller rooms feature a microwave and mini-fridge as well as good (free!) wi-fi access.

The accommodations are bright, the grounds are lovely and have flowers and pet areas (as well as pet accommodations) and the staff is kind and attentive. There is a lovely small pool and hot-tub on the grounds (though you'll want to save your swimming experience for the World Famous "Hot-Springs Spa/Pool and Resort" down town) and next door you'll find a mini-golf, a char-coal burger joint and easy access to the road (or free bus) to the main part of town.

A great value!

If you are in "high maintenance" mode, think of staying elsewhere. This is not a luxury suite. Time is taking its toll on beloved Red Mountain Inn and the ceilings in the bathrooms need replacing and air-conditioner/heat adjusted. These features work, and the rooms/furnishings are clean - but need to be repaired. Another downgrade recently is that they're buying cat-tongue rough awful towels instead of the nice soft ones they used to stock. Bring your own pool towels. The breakfast, as other reviewers mention, is only fruits, muffins, coffee -- so grab an apple and head towards town for some real breakfast.

Note: “Not exactly what they advertise” 2004 review below in the reviews section for this entry is OBVIOUSLY from someone who stayed at a different pace. This is not a spa, there are no 800$ a day packages, etc. They entered the wrong information for the wrong Red Mountain Inn.

Traveling through and needed someplace "dog friendly" to spend one night. This was one of the more reasonably priced options in town, and had good reviews on TripAdvisor so we booked. We were not disappointed!

This is an older "motor inn" where you drive up to your door. Made it very handy to bring in ALL our food as we were warned not to leave it in the car lest the black bears of the area smell it and break in!

The rooms and furnishings are older but are very clean, and there was a fridge and microwave. The only downside was no coffeemaker in the room

The grounds around the hotel are well cared for, with a "pet area" for our dog's use! Quiet area with a breathtaking view from right outside our door!

Staff was pleasant, and it was nice to fill our cooler from the ice machine in the morning...no warning on it that we were not to use it for the cooler!

Four day stay with 33 family members including 12 children under 9. Friendly staff continually went out of their way to ensure everyone was happy. Thank you Megan!, Nothing fancy but clean and each room is a lillte different, but several had full kitchens and one comfortably slept 8 in 3 separate rooms! Very reasonable rates. Centrally located with lots of off street parking. Large, clean and heated pool with wading pool and hot tub. Large bar-b-que and play area for the kids. Miniature golf next door. Continental breakfast was minimal; milk, coffee, juice and miniature do-nuts and muffins. Only real complaint was that there was not enough hot water in some of the rooms to have more than one shower before it ran out. Would highly recommend for those with children and on a budget.

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights for a little getaway and could not have stayed at a more relaxing place. The staff is so friendly and helpful, the rooms are super clean and we felt so relaxed. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette, used the bbq grill and ate at one of the picnic tables conveniently located in a nice shady spot near the pool. The hot tub and pool were again, very clean. You can tell that these owners take a lot of pride in their place. We highly recommend the Red Mountain Inn and will be back!!

We stayed two nights at Red Mountain and were very happy with our little cabin. There were 3 adults, a five year old and 1 year old twins. Cribs were in our cabin when we arrived and our daughter was thrilled to find the putt putt golf place next door. About 1 mile from town and the hot springs. Only complaint was that I was a little stuffed up due to pets being welcome in all cabins. It'd be great if they had a few units with no pets allowed. But overall it was a great deal and a great getaway!

We loved staying here. It's a very cozy and clean hotel.

The rooms are not new and not perfect but clean and spacious. There was a fridge and microwave in our room.
The beds were firm but not horrible.
The carpet was clean, my son didn't have black feet from running around on it.
Two windows in the room which open.
They do not have coffee in the room but it is available in the mornings in the lobby.

The grounds around the hotel were groomed and nice. Grassy areas in front of our room. Outside the hotel rooms are chairs to sit in, which I Ioved doing in the evenings. Very quiet and relaxing.

The pool area was very clean and nice, never busy.

The comp breakfast consisted of mini muffins, donuts, fruit, juice, milk and coffee. Not the best breakfast but it was fine for us.

There is a wonderful mini golf next door to the hotel with big trees and a stream running through it.

I would definitely stay here again. I thought it was great. It was a nice change from the hotel chains.

We have just had a wonderful stay at the Red Mountain Inn. We had 2 cabins and a regular motel room. All were clean and comfortable. The cabins were especially nice for a young family with two small children. We were there for a family event which made having cabins with more than one room and a kitchen really handy. The staff were wonderful, friendly and prompt when we needed something. They have a great pool, a kiddie pool and a hot tub, clean and easily accessible with small children. The rooms are a ways from the road and there is a grassy area for the kids to play that allowed us to spend safe time with the children outside. There are several reviews of the Inn written several years ago which we believe are no longer applicable as the Inn has had new owners for the past year or so. There is fresh paint and a number of improvements that make the Red Mountain Inn truely one of the best bargins in Glennwood Springs. We have another family event this fall and will all be staying at the Inn again.

  • Liked — clean lodging for good price, excellent staff
  • Disliked — The Inn is undergoing rennovation and the carpet in one cabin needed some work.
