“sorry, Bayou appears closed!”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

Was there this past weekend & signs on the darkened door say "Thanks and goodbye". Sad to see it go. Since we apparently have to have 100 characters to complete a review, think back fondly on the Bayou's delicious past, and the staff's lighthearted attitude. They seemed to actually enjoy working there! And now it can be told that at the "old" location the staff was known to go around table to table with spray bottles of various liquors just for the fun of it. "Say ahhhhh!"
RIP, Bayou.

“Great food”
Reviewed 17 October 2013 via mobile

Food was terrific. I had the extreme pasta and my husband had the fried chicken. We both loved our meals and the service we received. Not sure if we got lucky or what but this was a fantastic meal.

We went there last year and it was wonderful and have waited all year to go back. We go it and the first think the hostess tells us is there is a new menu. They have taken all the good food off. On top of that - most items have crawfish - and the waitress says they are out of crawfish that day. We left without eating.

We were referred to The Bayou after inquiring at a local shop where we might find ballroom dancing or karaoke on Saturday night. We stopped in at about six to check it out, and it had somewhat of a sports bar atmosphere with families eating and watching TV. A very friendly server informed us that, beginning at 10:30 pm, the tables would all be moved aside to make room for a dance floor and a DJ would play Latin music till last call at 1:30 a.m. At six o'clock it seemed like a great idea.

Shortly after 10:30 we returned. The front door of the establishment was almost totally blocked by half a dozen men and a couple women loitering outside. Apparently they couldn't decide if they wanted in or out. A security guard checked our IDs and waived us in (no cover charge).
Inside was completely transformed compared to earlier in the evening. Very few tables were left at each side of the room for patrons, and most were empty. It was very poorly lit and the music was absolutely blowing our eardrums out at top decibel. The volume was painful, literally. Shady looking people seemed to lurk back in the dark corners alongside the bar.

We sat at a table having our ears bombarded for several minutes. No one came to take our drink orders. The atmosphere was so creepy and the noise was so unbearable that we just got up and left.

“Slow service, below average food, and overpriced”
Reviewed 3 August 2013

The restaurant was less than half full so this was the first indication to me that there was no need for the terribly slow service. Our food took forever, our waitress (Payge) was non existent, and the items that we ordered did not taste anywhere close to or as good as the same items at other Cajun restaurants. The bread pudding was soggy, the red beans and rice was a floating mixture of sausage and minimal rice and beans. The waitress (Payge) could not multi-task to save her life and spent most of her time chatting with co-workers or customers at the bar. I had to track her down to ask for my check. We will not return to nor suggest this restaurant to anyone. For a family of three we paid over $60 for this experience.
