“Family Reunion”
Reviewed 17 June 2013

Thank you to the Staff of Hotel Glenwood Springs who were our hosts June, 14, 15, & 16, 2013!!! This hotel became our choice after interviewing other accommodations in the area. Their motto was "whatever you need" and they provided. With over 45 family members converging on their facilities for two days, their friendliness, willingness to help, quick to answer questions and spirit of hospitality was exceptional. Family members with dogs were given clean rooms with the ability to leave the dogs in the rooms while they enjoyed the adventure park. We had a family emergency which required a visit to the hospital via ambulance, again, the staff was right on the spot. One evening, we were in need of a place to gather as our picnic area was not available; the doors were opened to the breakfast area where we spent the evening watching a family slide show. When we overwhelmed the beautiful lobby for family photos, the staffed offered to take pictures to everyone would be in the pictures. Day or night, the entire staff was fantastic!!!

This was a great place to stay with our small children. I appreciated the only door to enter being right by the front desk. Nice pool area, clean rooms! Very affordable and a great option when you don't want to be around big crowds at the main springs.

We have taken our Grandkids to Glenwood on 2 occasions after they were out of school. This is during the 3rd week of May when the weather in Glenwood isn't always the best. The Hotel Glenwood Springs was perfect for us because one day of our trip was quite chilly so, the hotel's indoor pool was a great substitute for the hot springs pool in Glenwood. The water slide was so much fun that Grandma & Papa got in on the fun. Although the slide is not as long as the one at the hot springs, the cost is zip compared to $19 per child for unlimited pool rides at the other pool. On the weekend, the pool did get much busier but it was still fun.

We found the staff to be quite accommodating. When we arrived we found ourselves in a handicapped room with a tiny sit down shower & no real vanity space. The staff moved us to another room which unfortunately had a dog that barked incessantly. We asked to be moved again & we finally got a great room for our 4 night stay. The staff was so nice about all of this.

With a 3 night stay, you get a free movie & pizza which we enjoyed very much plus, we received 2 free tickets to the Glenwood Caverns theme park. Also, the theme park gondola is just steps from the front door!!! All in all the value was great & we had wonderful time.

We stayed here for Thanksgiving and we had an amazing time! The location is great, close to town, yet just outside enough to be away from traffic. Being right next door to the adventure park was even better to enjoy our time! Breakfast at the hotel does leave something to be desired-not too much to pick from and everyone in the hotel is trying to eat at the same time, so we did eat out our last morning in Glenwood Springs. Traveling with 4-it was nice to have a room with 2 beds, but the layout of the room was a bit odd for privacy. Glenwood Springs is a wonderful place to visit-can't wait to get back!

We stayed here three nights with another family in adjoining rooms. The rooms are large and comfortable. I think every room probably has a mountain view, which is nice.

This hotel is absolutely great for kids and families. We purchased the Hot Springs pool package, which saved us some money on the pool passes. Since we stayed three nights, we also got a free pizza and movie, which was great. If you're heading up to the Adventure Park, the front desk can give you a 25% off Tram Ride coupon.

The hotel also offers a program where you'll get $5 to the Glenwood Canyon Brewpub for each day you don't require maid service. If you need to, you can bring your trash down to the front desk and they'll also give you new toiletries and coffee. If you have kids who nap during the day, you can understand how nice not having to worry about being interrupted by the maid can be!

The staff at the hotel was also very nice. The people at the front desk took the time to talk to us each time we passed. They seemed to enjoy talking to our two-year-old daughter and even got to know her during our stay.

Breakfast is included and features very popular waffles along with bagels, toast, fruit, cereal, yogurt and hard boiled eggs.

If you don't like kids, this is probably not the hotel for you.

My wife and I have stayed several times at this hotel back when it was AmericInn. It was our first time back since it became Hotel Glenwood Springs. I actually think it's gotten better now that it is privately owned and not corporate(ly) owned.

This time we brought both our boys. We got ourselves a 1-bedroom jacuzzi suite with kitchenette on the 4th floor, northeast side, at a very reasonable AAA rate even for a holiday weekend. It also helps to book several months in advance. All features worked very well and the kitchenette suite is one of a few of its kind in the building with a medium size fridge and freezer, toaster oven, and microwave. Otherwise, the larger suites have just a mini-fridge and microwave. With all our stays here, this was the best room we've had so far.

Our 4 year old loved the pool (especially playing basketball). The water was a great temperature (not too cold, but definitely not bath-water) and even my wife and I had fun on the large slide. I recommend getting to the pool in the mid-afternoon as it gets very crowded in the late-afternoon early evening. Their swimming pool is very popular. We went around 1-2:00 and pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Reason why I say this place is a great hotel for couples is because numerous suites have in-room whirlpools...really mini-hot tubs. While two people can barely fit in, they do make for some romantic times. These are really well worth the extra costs.

The location is slightly off the beaten path when it comes to getting to downtown or the famous Hot Springs. But they are both an easy walk away. However, if you plan on going to the Adventure Park, not only can you get discount all-day passes, you don't even have to get back in your car as the tram is literally right next to the building. Because HGS shares the parking lot with the tram for the Adventure Park, parking can be an issue. It is best to find a place to park and don't drive as much as you can. Odds are your space will be gone when you get back even though it is a pretty good sized parking lot!

Breakfast really could use some improvement. They have a decent-sized breakfast area, but it's pretty basic as far as options go. The only hot items are waffles and toast. It would really enhance the experience if hot items like eggs, sausage, and bacon were offered. There is plenty of room on the counter to make some quality additions!

The best rooms are on the 4th floor at either end of the hallway. Even though our suite was on the northeast side, right next to the elevator, noise did not bother us at all. I don't even think there was all that much traffic in this section of the hotel.

The customer service is also top notch. We were always greeted promptly and it just seemed like they were always eager to help and make sure things got taken care of. On the first evening in our suite, we accidentally tripped a circuit breaker (not a good idea to use the microwave and the toaster oven at the same time). Jessica spent several minutes going to reset the breaker, which was also a GFI, and everything worked just fine after that.

If it's just my wife and me on a weekend getaway, we will definitely choose Hotel Glenwood Springs. We really don't care about the historic hotels that are in town and cost nearly double and all you're paying for is the history. HGS is very nice, very reasonable and have a large variety of rooms to choose from to fit everyone's needs.

There really isn't anything majorly wrong with HGS. Strongly recommended.

Room Tip: Go for the 4th floor on the north side. Highway noise on the south side might bother some. North s...

Good for families with small children. Nice location next to the little adventure park. Only a 15 minute walk to downtown. Rooms are spacious. Sheets and towels are nice and very clean. Furniture and floors are stained and very dirty!
