“Loved it!”

We were very impressed with Hotel Denver. The antiques throughout the hotel were beautiful and the rooms were unique. Everything was very clean and well kept. We will definitely be staying here again in the future!

Room Tip: Request one of the rooms with two bathrooms...this is very helpful when traveling with family. The...

This is the perfect choice. Vintage hotel, sparkling clean, antiques in the rooms, and top it off, this is a staff that cares. And the guests were just as friendly. Everyone spoke in the elevators, waiting for elevator, just sitting around in the lobby. The room was very large and nicely shaped, not the typical long narrow rooms of most hotels. The king bed was excellent, the rooms were quiet, even though it was a very family friendly hotel (the 4th of July). The lobby was so welcoming I took a book down and sat comfortably and read. We were unable to bring our dog but she would have been right at home. Many people had dogs and they were all well behaved, no barking. We would come back and bring our dog too. You will not regret a stay here.

Room Tip: we got the last room for the night, and it was 3rd floor King with no view and we loved every bit of...

We booked last minute and were offered an excellent price on an upgraded room! We were on the second floor in a huge room with four or five very large windows and two queen beds. It had a very nice sitting area with nice antique touches and gorgeous quilts. We were very pleased to stay in such a beautiful place and extremely happy they allowed well behaved dogs. Everyone was very friendly. They even had a laundry where we could wash our clothes. Since we have a cabin on Grand Mesa, we will definitely be returning to Hotel Denver for a luxury getaway!

Room Tip: Ask to be placed away from their restaurant/bar. It can get loud in the evening until midnight.

Since I used to work at a resort, I have high expectations when traveling. I'm taking the time to write a review to help others better know what to expect out of a stay here.

We found the hotel easily but had to park in a lot across the street and tote our luggage to the front entrance, as there didn't seem to be a front drive to stop and check in, nor any type of valet service available. No big deal. Next, we checked in. I was impressed by how friendly the front desk agent was, but the lobby looked dingy, dated, and frankly not very clean (there were spider webs or cob webs in the high windows).

We got our keys (which were actual keys, not key cards) and made our way up the elevator to room 314. It was a river view queen room that looked out on the Amtrak station. The space was tight, with dingy, dated decor to boot: blond wood furniture with dents and dings, tacky hot-springs-themed artwork, a quilt on the bed, and a tiled, commercial-looking ceiling. The bathroom was tiny, with barely enough space to fit the basic white tiled tub shower with rain shower head, a sink with no vanity, and the toilet. Everything did look clean, though.

The bed was comfortable, and the A/C worked well. I'm usually a heavy sleeper (I can even fall asleep with the tv on), but I could hear everything: kids running down the hallway at 10 pm, people talking loudly on the street below in the middle of the night (with window shut tightly!), and the man in the room next to ours (312?) coughing through the early morning hours. I "woke up" well before my alarm went off feeling completely exhausted. My husband went down to the "coffee bar" in the lobby, and it didn't even have cream available, just milk.

By the way, there were no special touches like bath robes in the closet, extra towels/pillows, or luxury toiletries (unless you count the Andes mints on the dresser as such)--just the most basic accommodations you can imagine.

When I checked out, our balance was more than $200. Frankly, I felt ripped off. Even though the staff were cordial, I will not stay here again, nor can I recommend it to others.

Quick recap:
Pros: friendly staff, convenient downtown location close to restaurants and across the river from the hot springs pool
Cons: cost (not a good value), noise, bare necessities experience

The staff was excellent. They were super friendly and very helpful. They recommended some restaurants which turned out well for us. Our room was much larger than expected and I liked the old furniture and variety of quilts. The off-street parking was very convenient. We walked around the downtown area a bit and then crossed the river to check out the area near the pool. We also ended up walking over to the base of the mountain so we could visit the adventure park and caverns. Well worth the walk.

Room Tip: I think we were in 218 (not positive) and it was on the back side and after a little hallway. We di...

Nice property close to everything like the pool and great restaurants [all within walking distance]. Every room is different and our first room had a great view but the bed was like a rock so we asked to change and our next room had comfortable pillow top queen beds, huge bathroom with jetted tub, hardwood floors [I think all room have hard wood floors which I LOVE} and a comfy sitting area. It unfortunately was an interior room no outside light but we were gone a lot so it wasn't a big deal. All rooms have Keurig coffee makers which is nice and all rooms are air conditioned [I mention the AC as I've always stayed at the Hotel Colorado which does not have AC but has other good features. Actually we checked in the Hotel Denver 6/22/2014 at the end of Strawberry Days and tried to get in the Hotel Colorado but Laura their front desk clerk couldn't seem to make it happen]. The staff at the Hotel Denver are very, very accommodating and a shout out to Roxy, Jennifer and Candace who were always kind, patient and helpful. The hotel has water and apples on the front desk at all times and in the morning there's coffee, tea, granola bars and apples which is nice but since there's no breakfast service in the restaurants perhaps some muffins or donuts would be a nice touch until lunch. Not a deal breaker and would stay again and recommend it to our friends.
