“Hotel could use updates”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

We got a room here after choosing to do a "name your own price" deal on Priceline. We got a good rate, and the location was great. We were able to walk to many things, and other things we wanted to do were only short drives. Our room seemed to have been updated and was clean and comfortable. The pool area was very outdated. The hot tub and pool were small. The pool was pretty warm though, which was nice. In the morning, all they had offered for "breakfast" was coffee and what looked like a mini loaf of dry banana bread sliced on a paper plate. Our stay was ok but we probably would try a different hotel next time.

I'm sorry to say the room was not clean; the linens were very tired; the front desk person was great

I'm pretty sure nothing about this hotel has changed since it was built - the decor is straight out of the 70s. But the beds and bathrooms were clean and the AC worked. The whole hotel smells like cigarette smoke though - our room was non-smoking and wasn't too bad but the hallways smelled terrible. However you can easily walk to the hot springs pool, the adventure park, and downtown Glenwood from here. If you're hungry for breakfast, skip the overpriced buffet downstairs and walk next door to the Village Inn.

The location was great. Cleanliness was ok, there wasn't any towels in one of the rooms and the front desk didn't have any extras when asked, but it didn't take but 15 minutes and they brought alot. The front desk was informative and helpful. Pool is on the small side, but for the money per room it would be hard to beat it.

In some ways, this hotel is okay, but it has one huge problem. The hotel is four stories tall and, in the exposed basement, there is a conference room/party room. One evening while I was there very recently, the room was rented out to a very, very loud party. The party was so loud (with thumping bass in the music) that I could feel the music right through the floor on the fourth floor of the building, in addition to hearing it through the window. I and numerous other guests complained about the noise and, after many complaints, the music was finally turned off a little after 10 PM. That may not seem to be terribly late, but there were parents complaining because their kids couldn't sleep, and I wanted to go to sleep early to get up at 5 AM for a long hike. One of the other complaining guests was actually a parent who was at the hotel on a comped weekend because the exact same thing had happened last year when he stayed at the hotel.
The following day, I spoke with the GM about the noise. Her view was that there really wasn't anything that could be done about the situation because the conference room/party room rents out for a lot of money and she needs to be able to earn that money for the hotel. I suggested that the room ought to be rented with a caveat that noise must be keep low enough to not bother the hotel guests, but she wasn't willing to accept that option. Her bottom line is that the room must be able to be rented, so . . . that's just the way it has to be.
In my opinion, this hotel needs to decide what they are first - are they first a hotel that cares about the quiet enjoyment of their guests or are they first a conference and party center? Right now, they are trying to be both - and they are doing a lousy job of it.
So, if you have kids, stay away! If you want to be able to get to sleep early sometimes, stay away! And if you just don't like listening to a very loud party for several hours, stay away!
