We stayed in a corner room (#210) overlooking the main street downtown during our honeymoon and had a really nice stay! The accommodations weren't overly fancy, but our room was extremely clean with nice linens and a super comfortable bed, everything you could want from a hotel room. The hotel is within walking distance to everything downtown and to Coors for a brewery tour and there is ample free parking. The staff was all extremely friendly and eager to give recommendations. Overall, a fantastic stay in Golden!

Room Tip: If you aren't a sound sleeper, I would ask for an interior room, since there was quite a bit of...

This is a cute city and the hotel is right downtown within easy walking distance of almost anything you want to do. This is an old building that has been renovated. The lobby is beautiful and quaint. Our room was on the third floor and was very large. We overlooked the parking lot so I can't say our room had a nice view. It was clean and there was plenty of room for the 3 of us even with the sofa bed open.. Our only complaint was that the room was very hot and we were never comfortable that night.

Wonderful accommodations. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. We had a great view of the patio and the river out back. Unfortunately we were there during the flooring and the weather was a bit rough. The location is great, within walking distance to food and shops. We would stay again if in the area.

From the glow of the fireplace to the chocolate chip cookies, this hotel has all the charm that you'd expect in a town like Golden. Walking distance to restaurants and shops with a beautiful view from the patio. The hotel was also set up well for meetings.

Room Tip: Try for a mountain view room as the street side can get a little noisy.

Golden Hotel – Oct. 11 – 13, 2013 --- Room #210 Business suite corner room. This spacious king-bedded room located on the 2nd floor overlooking Washington Street has a nice view of North & South Table Mountain. The love seat, chair and desk in this room made it very comfortable for visitors to come by for an evening chat. The bed and pillows were also very comfortable. Although the carpet appeared somewhat new, the seam was ripping in one area of the room. The bathroom counter space was extremely limited. Luckily, just outside the bathroom was a large countertop with a mirror, an electrical outlet, coffee maker, microwave & mini bar. This corner room is in a little alcove on the 2nd floor, so the noise from the lobby area was not that noticeable. The only downside about this room was the street noise...however, luckily the traffic noise quiets down considerably in the night. This hotel was very busy during our weekend stay with 3 weddings taking place on Saturday! The lobby area is nice and cozy with a fireplace and the front desk staff were very friendly. The free Internet service worked fine for emails and surfing the web, no need to upgrade the premium service. Breakfast is not included in the room rate, however they do have a nice restaurant at the hotel. Breakfast and lunch were fine and waitresses were very friendly. The health club facilities at this hotel are rather small...however with a beautiful walking trail adjacent to the hotel who needs to use the gym -- especially when the weather is nice! October was a great time to visit Golden, as the fall colors were amazing. This nice trail goes past the football stadium by Colorado School of Mines and continues for a long time with various side trails available. Next time, I plan on exploring those trails! We ate dinner at Grappa's across the street. The food was very good, but it was rather expensive. We also had a delicious dinner at the Cantina Grill at the Table Mountain Hotel.
Next time we visit our son in Golden, we will definitely stay at The Golden Hotel again.

Room Tip: Business Corner Suite #210 was very spacious with nice view of Table Mountain.

Pros
Very nice location downtown Golden, with close and safe walking in downtown area, along the creek and to Coors brewery (for the tour).
Clean and well maintained rooms and lobby area.
Complimentary computer in the lobby.
Complimentary USA Today.
Refrigerator and microwave in the room.
Friendly and helpful staff.
TV didn't work the first night, but they gave me a free breakfast certificate (breakfast was good).

Cons
Very small sink area, along with the faucet not sticking far enough out into the sink.
Small bathroom.
Nice that they were 'green' with shampoo, conditioner and soap dispensers in the shower rather than bottles and bars of soap; however, the soap in the soap dispenser didn't lather at all, so had to use the one hand soap bar that was at the sink.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel to celebrate our 10th anniversary, to our surprise we where upgraded to a beautiful suite, a couple of hours after we checked in we got a bottle of wine and strawberries with chocolate sauce sent from the restaurant. Every employee that we had contact with made us feel special, I love this place we are definitely coming back next year.
