Description: Our Place is Yours: Old Capitol Grill & Smokehouse has become one of Colorado’s favorite eateries for locals and visitors alike. The Capitol offers up a full menu of on-site smoked meats, classic American fare, featuring our housemade dishes with some unique twists, in an historic setting. We have brought back some of the grandeur of the building from its heyday as the capitol building of the Colorado Territory and in celebration of Colorado’s beauty. The colors, light fixtures and wall art are reflective of the mid-1800s period, when Colorado’s Territorial Legislature met within its walls.

When we arrived in Golden we were not sure where to eat and walked around. We happened upon the Capital Grill. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside. Understaffed to handle all of the tables. We ordered clam chowder, followed by blackened fish tacos & a salad with chicken in it. We got the chowder after the mains; the chowder was more creamed potatoes than clam chowder. The fish tacos were tasty, but the salad was bland and definitely not worth having. As expected, when it came to pay it took a long time for someone to come out and collect payment for a most forgettable meal.

Good food & atmosphere, but the service left much to be desired. Can't say I want to go back. I'll go to Woody's Pizza down the street instead!!!

Day trip from Colorado Springs to see Buffalo Bill's Grave and stop to eat lunch. I ordered the Pioneer Fried Steak
Breaded steak, fried crisp and smothered in homemade country gravy, served with scalloped potatoes and Texas toast. Steak was very good, but the scalloped potatoes were not quite what I expected. ( they were just thinly sliced cooked potatoes covered with cheddar cheese) not much flavor. But overall the meal was delish. We ordered the onion rings and they were pretty tasty.

Service terrible. They served us fish and chips with no malt vinegar then when we asked for some they brought us regular vinegar and oil. I didn't order a salad!!!!!

Enjoyed Happy hour there but couldn't find that much on the menu as a vegetarian, a lot of meat selections.
