Best authentic Mexican food in town! Great service, great margaritas, and excellent breakfasts as well. The green chili is awesome, and the burrito is huge.

Its location is apparently relatively new for this restaurant, and it would be easy to pass it right by as it does not have particularly inviting exterior - looks a little like a converted auto showroom! But once inside, you will be warmly greeted and led to a table in the spacious seating area - where you will be immediately plied with some of the best house-made tortilla chips ever made!

Try not to eat too many, though, because you want to leave room for the delicious food! They've got all the standards, plus a few seafood offerings, but I am a chile relleno freak, so I asked for a combo to try both the Anaheim and Poblano peppers they offered (and didn't bat an eye when I asked for verde sauce). I was definitely not disappointed! My husband got the carne asada taco dinner and it was delicious, too. Be forewarned: dinners come with a LOT of rice and beans - and most items seem to be available a la carte if you you'd rather not fill up on that stuff.

The staff was friendly and kept ice water refills flowing freely (a nice compliment to our cold beer and margarita on the rocks - good), and we even met "one of the original Marias" in the course of the evening!

Located at the end of the Main Street scene, just past the Avalon Theater on the corner of 7th street, its definitely worth the walk if you are staying in one of the hotels at the opposite end of Main Street. The walk is pleasant and the city-provided artwork makes for an interesting stroll even if the shops are already closed. (There is ample street parking if driving.)

Good margaritas. Chips and salsa also good. Green chile sauce is a house specialty. Very delicious, but spicy. We also enjoyed our rice and beans. Whole pinto beans are fantastic. We had chicken enchiladas and the chicken was tender and tasty. Give this place a try. Nice downtown location. Very friendly service. If we lived in the area we would come back often.

Maria makes the best green chili. We order the same thing every time we goes and it is smothered in extra green chili. The salsa is great too. Maria is always there to greet you. The wait is sometimes long but worth it. We have gone almost every Sunday for over a year.

Awesome, authentic and genuine. This is the only real deal in GJ. Food is fantastic, I had a tamale/rellano combo and I swear the pork was so fresh it was killed that AM. The masa was moist and flavorful with the green chile having just enough heat. I could rave on about the food, but for brevity I'll wrap up with this new location being spacious and accessible. Maria herself knows and loves every customer no matter how long it's been since the last visit and ensures you have a great meal. You gotta go, you won't be disappointed! Oh yeah....the beans are to die for!!!
