Description: il Bistro Italiano opened in August 1998. Our focus is on bringing a combination of traditional Italian dishes together with some innovative ones created within the boundaries of modern Italian cuisine. The pastas, breads, sauces, and desserts are all made at the restaurant from fresh ingredients. Our wine list features a large selection of wines from Italy and Colorado, and whenever possible, we use local ingredients in our kitchen. There is always something going on at the Bistro, so look at the Events Section to learn of special wine nights, cooking classes or other featured events.

“It could have been soooo good...”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We went here for dinner just after the restaurant re-opened after having been closed for nine (?) days. What a disastrous experience. We sat at a high top in the bar area, where the packaged breadsticks had expired in May or June, depending on the particular package. The hostess didn't provide us with a wine menu when she seated us. We had to ask the waitress for one. We ordered a half-order of gnocchi with meat sauce because we wanted to sample their gnocchi. While the meat sauce was good, the gnocchi was dense and somewhat grainy. It took a long time to arrive at the table, and, at $19 for a half order, was over-priced. I ordered the pork tenderloin, which, according to the menu, was supposed to be served with potatoes and green beans but arrived with a few pieces of potatoes and other vegetables, which presumably were squash and left uneaten. No mention was made of the change at the time of ordering. When I asked the waitress, she checked with the kitchen and came back and informed us that there were no green beans and she didn't tell us at the time of ordering because the kitchen didn't tell her. My daughter ordered a salad but it didn't arrive before the main course so we ended up canceling it. I ordered a decaf espresso after dinner but couldn't drink it because it tasted terribly. The tiramisu, however, was delicious and one of the best that we have ever had. There's nothing worse than being on vacation and looking forward to a good dinner and having it turn out terribly. It can ruin your whole day. With that said, the waitress apologized in a heart-felt manner and compensated us satisfactorily for our experience. We think a lot of what happened that night was due to the re-opening of the restaurant after being closed for a period of time and some technological glitches that need to be worked out. While our experience was really only worthy of 1-2 stars, we are giving it three stars because of the perceived difficulties and the aplomb with which the waitress handled the situation. If everything had been running smoothly that night, we believe our experience would have been on the level of 4-5 stars. If we return to Grand Junction, we will give the place another try.

“Came because of Trip Advisor, will come back for the food”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

It's wonderful to see a place that not only has outstanding food, but offers it in both "regular" and small portions. From the moment we walked in, the service (with a smile), the presentation (of all their pastas) and the food was wonderful. The service was prompt, with servers covering for each other -and the meal was fantastic, from the appetizer through the dessert. I'm going to make it a regular stop whenever I'm in Grand Junction.

“Great food, service & atmosphere”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

I have nothing but good things to say. We had called ahead for a reservation to make sure to get a spot to accommodate my Grandma's wheel chair and it worked out great. Our waiter was very nice and so patient with my grandma who took awhile to decide what she wanted. The food was absolutely delicious, all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed it. It was the best meal we have had on this trip! Thank you!
