“Good accommodations but don't forget to WASH YOUR DISHES”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

We have stayed quite a few times at the Western Riviera and they have nice units, most with lake views. The kitchens are mostly complete and they have gas grills outside.
I would give them an excellent except for the attitude with the rules posted in the units. "Please wash your dishes before you leave! You will be charged $25 for leaving unwashed dishes." We were told to wash, dry and put away the dishes. At resort prices, it seems more like scout camp. They are serious about the no pet policy, "There is a minimum $250 charge for stowaway pets and you will be asked to leave with NO refund".
Oh, and if you cancel a reservation more than 2 weeks before arrival they take a $50 charge from your deposit.

Room Tip: We stayed in a newer cabin away from the lake. Our favorite rooms view the lake directly with a nic...

My husband and I spent two nights here in mid-March and the location is perfect. Quiet this time of year, right on the lake, and within walking distance of everything on the main drag. We were here to ski at the nordic center, and snowshoe in the park...all very close to drive to. The place itself is dated, but that's part of the charm!! We had no issues whatsoever with our room amenities, and the heaters get the room warm in a hurry. The only issue we had is that we were on the top floor at the very end of the stairs and could hear people loudly stomping up and down the stairs since they had to pass our room to go down to the parking lot...next time we will request a room towards the center to avoid the noise. Other than that, everything was fine. The staff was friendly and we were right around the corner from the awesome bakery and our favorite, the Fat Cat Cafe. Beautiful view of the lake and quiet at night...we even saw the resident fox as we were leaving our last day. Beds are comfortable and the room was just what we needed for a couple nights.

Room Tip: Away from the end of the stairs will cut down on noise.

I was supposed to be in Estes Park for this stay but the September flooding made that impossible. Instead of this being a negative it was turned into a wonderful experience. If you are going to this area you should check this place out.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were perfect for experiencing a cozy mountain vacation, with their own kitchenettes, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator. There is a separate room from the living room, which had an extra large comfortable bed. There is a T.V. in the bedroom and in the living room there is a large flat screen T.V, both are hooked up to cable. There is also free WiFi,. There was a nice deck that lined the cabins, which overlooked an amazing view of Grand Lake, Personal Picnic tables, and grills for each cabin on the deck, which would be perfect for a warm summer/fall day. There were stairs that made their way down a rocky hill to a small marina and doc area, where you can fish. I loved it here, and would certainly come back. I am thinking our next family reunion. is going to be right here!

Room Tip: Rooms with a view, completely worth every penny!

What a Great Vacation !
I had a great time Kayaking, Hiking, early morning Moose and Elk watching and Relaxing.
Constitution Week was an absolutely fantastic with Many Speakers, a Parade, Fireworks and some of the Best People I’ve met in a long time. Just a Classic Event and very well organized.
I was also lucky to get in to see Sage for an Awesome Massage; She’s the Best at her Craft.
Thank you to the Western Riviera for giving me such wonderful Memories !

We were unable to get to Estes Park on the night of 12th September because of the floods. Our last possible point of entry via the Trail Ridge Road was not attempted following advice from the park rangers so we were stranded in Grand Lake and needed a hotel fast.
We stumbled on this hotel after the chamber of commerce gave us a list of possibles. What a happy find. The room opened directly onto a patio with chairs and tables and had excellent views of the lake which we were able to appreciate as the Continental Divide kept most of the rain away.
We were greeted warmly at reception and given a good room rate (no sign of profiteering from the Estes Park escapees).
The room was quite good, if a little dated, and was comfortable and clean.
I can imagine this hotel would be a delight in warmer, sunnier conditions but seemed like an oasis to us after the day we had had! Thanks again for rescuing us!

Highly recommend the motel. Beautiful lake view from umbrella tables on the deck. Walk to any place in town without moving your car. We were supposed to go to Estes Park, but the evacuation caused us to change our plans. Ann at Western Riviera was so helpful, as was all of the staff. Grand Lake is a wonderful town with lots of activities. Would love to return some day!
